(CLO) China calls on all parties involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict to participate in peace talks, while emphasizing the important role of Europe in resolving the crisis.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference on February 14, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed Beijing's support for all efforts toward peace, including any consensus between the US and Russia on negotiations.

China has long maintained that dialogue is the only solution to the Ukraine crisis. However, previous efforts by Beijing, such as the six-point peace plan announced by China and Brazil in May 2024, were rejected by Zelenskyy on the grounds that it favored Moscow's interests.
Besides the Ukraine issue, Wang Yi also spoke about tensions between China and the US. He declared that Beijing would "persevere to the end" in the trade war with Washington, even though China does not want a conflict with the US.
These statements were made after Trump imposed a 10% tariff on Chinese goods and Beijing retaliated with tariffs of up to 15% on imports from the US.
Furthermore, the previous restrictions on high-tech exports imposed by the Joe Biden administration also increased tensions, with Beijing accusing the US of trying to curb China's technological progress.
Speaking at the conference, Wang emphasized that China has overcome many difficulties and will not be intimidated by challenges. He also cited the I Ching to highlight China's resilient spirit, and mentioned DeepSeek, a domestically developed AI application, as proof of China's technological capabilities despite US restrictions on chips.
