On May 25th, Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province, chaired a meeting to hear a report from the Department of Education and Training on several key issues in the field of education and training, notably the draft plan for merging three colleges in the former Hoa Binh province.
According to a report from the Phu Tho Department of Education and Training, three vocational education institutions, including Hoa Binh College of Economics and Technology, Hoa Binh College of Technology, and Song Da Vocational College, are expected to merge into Hoa Binh College of Technology.
Following the merger, the school continues to offer training in 28 vocational programs from the three former schools, including 11 college-level programs and 17 intermediate-level programs that have been granted vocational education registration certificates.
According to the plan, in the period 2026-2030 and subsequent years, the school's training scale is expected to reach approximately 2,500-3,000 students per year. The school will organize training at college, intermediate, and basic levels, as well as regular training as prescribed.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Khac Hieu emphasized that the merger aims to streamline the organizational structure, overcome the dispersion of resources and duplication of training programs; and at the same time improve the efficiency of management and use of facilities and develop multi-disciplinary vocational education institutions to meet the human resource needs of the locality and the labor market.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training and the schools to urgently finalize the project based on a comprehensive review of the current organizational structure, staff, lecturers, training programs, enrollment scale, facilities, finances, and autonomy capacity of each unit.
During the implementation process, the province requires ensuring the stability of training activities and protecting the rights of students, faculty, staff, and workers. The handling of assets, finances, debts, and personnel arrangements must be carried out strictly to avoid loss and waste.
Regarding investment in education, at the conference, the Department of Education and Training also reported on the difficulties in the inspection of fire safety and the final settlement of investment capital for some construction projects.
Regarding this matter, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee instructed the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with the Phu Tho Provincial Police and other relevant units to specifically review each project with outstanding issues and propose appropriate solutions in accordance with legal regulations and actual conditions.
At the same time, the units are required to expedite the completion of documents and procedures to ensure early acceptance, handover, commissioning of the project, and final settlement of investment capital in accordance with regulations.
