According to the announcement of Fulbright University Vietnam, after the school's founding president, Ms. Dam Bich Thuy, planned to resign and retire at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the school board has conducted the process of selecting a successor.
After a period of searching, Professor Scott Fritzen was chosen by the school's Board of Trustees to continue the mission of leading Fulbright University.

In a letter to the Fulbright University community, Mr. Thomas Vallely, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fulbright University Vietnam, said that Professor Scott Fritzen is an experienced university administrator with many outstanding achievements, from building and laying the foundation for new universities, to innovating and developing long-standing educational institutions thanks to his strategic vision and sharp development orientation.
"Professor Scott Fritzen shows us his passion and dedication to education in general and liberal education in particular. He also demonstrates a strong commitment to research and public policy, and the spirit of individual autonomy in an international academic environment," said Mr. Thomas Vallely.
Professor Leon Botstein, President of Bard College (USA), and a long-time member of the Fulbright University Board of Trustees, chaired the University President Appointment Committee, which included Professor Lien Hang Nguyen, Professor Ngo Bao Chau, Ms. Hoang Thi Mai Huong, Mr. Christopher Malone, and Mr. Ben Wilkinson. Professor Leon Botstein said that the committee members spent hundreds of hours interviewing, attending presentations, discussing with experts, and consulting with partners and the Fulbright community.
"The task that the Board of Trustees set for us was to select an outstanding leader with the qualities, skills, and experience to be able to bring a close strategic vision to the development of Fulbright University Vietnam," Mr. Leon Botstein shared.
Among many potential candidates, Professor Scott Fritzen stands out thanks to his extensive experience and enthusiasm, ready to grasp the opportunities and challenges of Fulbright - the first independent, non-profit university operating according to the American enlightenment education model in Vietnam.
Professor Scott Fritzen currently serves as Director of the David L. Boren School of International Studies, Associate Dean for Global Engagement, and William J. Crow Professor of Geopolitics at the University of Oklahoma (USA).
In addition to taking on the role of President of Fulbright University Vietnam, Professor Scott Fritzen will also be a lecturer in the Public Policy and Leadership program at the school.
