Having gone through nearly half a century of formation and development (1976-2025), Ho Chi Minh City University of Law has affirmed its position.

It is a leading legal training center and a prestigious center for legal science research in the country.

In December 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law reported the results of a survey on the employment situation of its graduates one year after graduation. The survey showed that 97.43% of graduates found employment within one year of graduation. This is an impressive figure, demonstrating the university's standing and the quality of its education.

Promote scientific research

Over its nearly 50-year history, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law has continuously expanded its training and research areas, moving towards a multidisciplinary, multi-field university model. In the last 10 years, the university has undergone significant transformation.

From 2020 to the present, the faculty of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law has been implementing 4 state-level research projects, 15 ministerial-level scientific research projects, and 126 university-level scientific research projects.

Among its outstanding scientific and technological activities are: participating in the research and development of the Draft Law on Education (amended), researching and improving the law on investment and business in the field of education and training, improving the law on reimbursement of training costs for those sent to study with state budget funds; leading many research projects at the national, ministerial, provincial, and city levels, as well as projects of the National Science and Technology Development Fund (Nafosted), the Rosa-Luxemburg Fund, etc.

In 2023 alone, lecturers at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law published 205 scientific articles in domestic journals and 18 articles in international journals, and also published 14 books and textbooks. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the number of publications continued to increase with 304 articles in domestic journals and 25 articles in international journals, along with 19 new books published.

In the field of scientific research, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law has achieved significant results at the Ministry of Education and Training 's scientific research award for young lecturers: 2 third prizes in 2021; 1 second prize and 3 consolation prizes in 2024. Simultaneously, the number of conferences and seminars organized has increased dramatically, with 19 international conferences, 10 national conferences, 25 university-level conferences, and over 90 faculty-level conferences.

The Vietnamese Journal of Legal Sciences of the University of Law of Ho Chi Minh City is published in two editions: a Vietnamese edition (Vietnamese Journal of Legal Sciences) with 12 issues per year and an English edition (Vietnamese Journal of Legal Sciences) with 3 issues per year; along with the newly launched Journal of Social and Economic Sciences in 2025 with 3 issues per year, contributing to the goal of international integration and promoting scientific research activities.

Dr. Le Truong Son, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, said that in the digital age, the university pays special attention to applying technology in teaching and research, and finding legal solutions to new issues arising from the digital transformation process.

The leadership of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law has set a vision for 2030-2045 to develop into a multidisciplinary, research-oriented university, maintaining its core role in legal education and gaining prestige at the regional level in Asia.

"The proactive spirit in anticipating trends is demonstrated through the school's active international cooperation and academic exchange to build a systematic and feasible roadmap for digitizing training and research activities," emphasized Dr. Le Truong Son.

According to Dr. Le Truong Son, to realize that goal, the focus should be on continuing to supplement and improve the quality of the team, promoting scientific research linked to innovation, and enhancing the quality and social impact of research projects. "Each topic and article is encouraged to be closely related to practical issues, solving legal problems posed by the rapid development of society and technology," Dr. Le Truong Son affirmed.
