On June 24th, Nam Can Tho University held a ceremony to announce the establishment of the DNC International Medical Faculty. This faculty will be responsible for receiving and training international students in health-related programs that have been licensed for training at the university. Notable students include those from India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal; as well as from the Middle East and many other countries.
Mr. Mahesh Chand Giri, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the need for well-trained, flexible, and competent medical professionals is extremely important.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Rector of Nam Can Tho University, stated that the university currently offers 42 undergraduate programs, 6 master's programs, and 1 doctoral program. Notably, the university has been officially included in the list of medical universities that meet the criteria set by the American website WDOMS (World Directory of Medical Schools). This provides a foundation for medical students at the university to have the opportunity to take the residency exam in the United States.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quang added that the establishment of the DNC International Medical Faculty is the next step in the process of innovation, improvement, and expansion of international cooperation and applied scientific research for both faculty and students. Previously, the school officially signed a cooperation agreement with the VMED Organization (India) regarding study abroad consulting services and the acceptance and training of international students. The first cohort includes approximately 150 international students, and the number will increase in subsequent years.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mahesh Chand Giri, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the global healthcare sector is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. These include the rapid advancement of medical technology and the increasing complexity of healthcare systems. The need for well-trained, flexible, and competent medical professionals will be crucial. Both India and Vietnam will benefit significantly from cooperation in the healthcare sector. This collaboration will equip both sides not only with professional skills but also with ethical and cultural awareness to thrive in the global healthcare environment.
At the ceremony, the Board of Directors of Nam Can Tho University announced the decision to appoint Associate Professor-Doctor Phillip Tran (Tran Van Phuc) to concurrently hold the position of Head of the DNC International Medical Faculty; the decision to establish the International Medical Science Council; and the launch of the DNC international medical curriculum in English.
