Practical from "green house"

With over 30 years of experience, including 15 years in a management position, Ms. Huong has been the Chairwoman of the Women's Union of the old Cam Lo district for 6 years (from July 1, 2025 to present, she is the Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Cam Lo commune). In this role, she is always concerned with the women's movement and has many solutions to innovate the content and methods of operation, building a strong union organization.

One of Ms. Huong's initiatives that was highly appreciated by the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and organizations, a large number of HVPNs, and people of all walks of life in the locality is the topic: Building a model of "Green house - limiting plastic waste to protect the environment, raising funds to support poor women and orphans in difficult circumstances". The initiative was built in February 2023 based on the criteria in building advanced new rural areas (NTM), model NTM in the current period, which is: "Building a family of 5 has, 3 clean".

In 2024, this project was recognized as a provincial initiative by the Provincial People's Committee. She, together with the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of the old Cam Lo district (the Association's Executive Committee), directed and guided the Women's Unions of 8 communes and towns in the area to implement the "Green House" model at 80 branches in the whole old Cam Lo district with 87 models.

To date, the total amount collected from the models is more than 206 million VND, supporting 85 health insurance cards for officials and members in difficulty, visiting members with sudden illnesses, and supporting 25 orphans in the area. "We hope that, through the specific actions of officials and HVPN participating in the implementation of the models, we will contribute to limiting plastic waste, protecting the environment, creating for women the habit of continuing to classify and effectively treat waste at source and waste at households; actively working in production, developing the economy , and building happy families," Ms. Huong shared.

The "Green House" model, though small, has great significance and has a widespread influence in the community. In Tan Dinh village, the model has been positively responded to by HVPNs and villagers. Up to now, the Women's Union of Tan Dinh village has sold products from the "Green House" model more than 20 times, earning an average of 1.5 million VND each time. From the collected funds, the union has visited members and their relatives when they are sick; supported orphans; supported health insurance purchases; given Tet gifts to poor members and those in especially difficult circumstances; built a volleyball court to serve the sports movement for HVPNs.

Head of the Women's Union of Tan Dinh village, Nguyen Thi Huong, said: "In the process of implementing the activities and movements of the association, including the "Green House" model, we have always been encouraged, motivated, enthusiastically guided and closely followed by Ms. Huong. Thanks to the implementation of the model, the association has a fairly stable source of funds to organize many practical activities according to the criteria of the model."

"Say it, do it"

With the belief that persuasion must be by setting an example, creating trust for HVPN to follow, the association's cadres must "Be able to say and do", not only with the "Green House" model, before that, Ms. Huong always set an example in everything. Thanks to that, many meaningful activities of the association were widely deployed, creating a strong spread, especially activities to care for the material and spiritual needs of disadvantaged HVPN.

In order to support women in developing their economy effectively, she and the association's Executive Committee have promoted the mobilization of resources from foreign non- governmental programs and projects to sponsor grassroots movement activities and provide capital support for poor women in raising livestock and developing the family economy. They have directed the association's grassroots units to review and grasp the needs, aspirations, and start-up ideas in HVPN to organize activities to support the implementation of creative ideas. They have paid attention to supporting HVPN to borrow capital to develop production through preferential loans. Up to now, 100% of the associations have savings models, and the rate of member participation has reached 100%.

With her positive contributions to the association's work and the women's movement, in the period of 2021-2025, Ms. Huong was commended by all levels and sectors, typically: From 2021-2024, she continuously achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; was awarded a certificate of merit by the Provincial People's Committee and the title of Emulation Fighter at the provincial level in 2024. Most recently, she was awarded a certificate of merit by the Vietnam Women's Union for her outstanding achievements in implementing the patriotic emulation movement in the period of 2021-2025.

Understanding the thoughts and aspirations of the disabled, Ms. Huong and the Executive Committee of the Women's Union of the old Cam Lo district directed the establishment of typical specific models such as: "Cam Lo Women with Disabilities" Club; "Cam Lo Women in Solidarity and Kindness"; "Zalo Group Connecting Information"; "Elderly Women's Group"; "Elderly Women's Group Helping Each Other Live Happy and Healthy"; "Health Care Club for the Elderly"; "Resilience Women's Group"; "Intergenerational Folk Dance Club"... Thereby, inspiring and motivating members to overcome difficulties, actively participate in movements and activities effectively.

Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Lo Commune, Duong Thi Thuong, said: “Ms. Huong is a dedicated and responsible association officer with a lot of experience in propaganda work, mobilizing cadres, women's organizations and people to carry out patriotic emulation movements, activities of the Women's Association in particular and the Front in general. Her work has contributed to building a strong association and, together with the locality, successfully building a new rural commune.”
