From rice paddies to seasons of hopeful flowers

2025 marks a new turning point in the agricultural and tourism landscape of Phong Du Thuong commune, a mountainous area, as buckwheat flowers are cultivated for the first time in fields after the harvest. With the support of the Japan-Vietnam Culinary Association, this model not only brings a vibrant pink hue to the harvested land but also opens up a sustainable development direction, shifting from purely agricultural production to experiential tourism.

Phong Du Thuong is located on the route connecting Sa Pa - Mu Cang Chai - Suoi Giang; if properly developed, it could become an attractive stop on the journey to explore Northwest Vietnam. After the flowering season, buckwheat seeds are purchased by businesses for food processing, increasing the economic value for the local people.
