Youth union members in the city view the book exhibition.
“There are many good and very necessary books for us to learn about the August Revolution and National Day September 2 through this exhibition”, Vo Quoc Khanh, a student of the Faculty of Political Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, Can Tho University, shared after visiting the exhibition. The group of friends accompanying Quoc Khanh also paid close attention to each book, following the entire exhibition space. They stopped for a long time next to the books recreating the historical atmosphere of the August autumn 80 years ago, next to the pages about the importance and contemporary significance of the sacred moment: President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam…
According to the leader of Can Tho City Library, this is a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The exhibition is a meaningful cultural activity, bringing readers back to important historical moments, arousing national pride and fostering love for the homeland and country.
With more than 300 carefully selected documents and books, “Proud of 80 Independent Autumns” systematically and vividly depicts the 80-year journey full of hardships but also very glorious of the Vietnamese people. The exhibition is divided into 3 parts. The first part with the theme “August Revolution - A great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese people” with books and documents helps viewers visualize the whole picture of the social context of Vietnam under the domination of French colonialists and Japanese fascists. At the same time, the displayed documents highlight the wise leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, as well as the seething spirit of the masses in the General Uprising to seize power in the August Revolution. With the theme “National Day September 2 and Independence Days”, the exhibition recreates the sacred atmosphere of September 2, 1945 at the historic Ba Dinh Square; about the early days of building the young government, the work of "eradicating hunger and illiteracy" and protecting the achievements of the revolution. Thereby, helping the public understand more deeply the value of independence and freedom. The exhibition ends with part 3, the theme "Vietnam - 80 years of steady progress", sketching the image of Vietnam rising in the new era, full of aspiration, proudly continuing the journey of 80 years of independence - freedom - happiness!
