Youth union members and young people in the city view the book exhibition.

“There are many excellent and essential books for us to learn about the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd through this exhibition,” shared Vo Quoc Khanh, a student from the Faculty of Political Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, Can Tho University, after visiting the exhibition. His group of friends also paid close attention to each book, following the exhibition space throughout. They lingered for a long time beside books that recreated the historical atmosphere of August 80 years ago, and beside pages about the importance and contemporary significance of that sacred moment: President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam…

According to the leaders of the Can Tho City Library, this is a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The exhibition is a meaningful cultural activity, bringing readers back to important historical moments, arousing national pride and fostering love for the homeland.

With over 300 carefully selected documents, books, and newspapers, "Proud of 80 Autumns of Independence" systematically and vividly portrays the 80-year journey of hardship but also great glory of the Vietnamese nation. The exhibition is structured into three parts. The first part, themed "The August Revolution - A Great Turning Point in the History of the Vietnamese Nation," features books and documents that help viewers visualize the overall social context of Vietnam under the colonial rule of the French and fascist Japan. At the same time, the exhibited documents highlight the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, as well as the fervent spirit of the people in the General Uprising to seize power during the August Revolution. The second part, themed "National Day 2-9 and the Days of Independence," recreates the sacred atmosphere of September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square; The exhibition focuses on the early days of building the fledgling government, the fight against hunger and illiteracy, and the protection of revolutionary achievements. Through this, it helps the public gain a deeper understanding of the value of independence and freedom. The exhibition concludes with Part 3, themed "Vietnam - 80 Years of Steadfast Progress," depicting Vietnam rising in a new era, full of aspirations and pride, continuing its 80-year journey of independence, freedom, and happiness!

To foster national pride and encourage young people to love books and historical documents, the Can Tho City Library also organizes lively quiz programs with prizes. Questions about the historical events of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd were answered correctly and accurately by the young people, demonstrating their interest in national traditions. Luong Huu Khanh, from the Cai Khe Ward Youth Union, said he felt the exhibition was very meaningful to him and his friends. Besides gaining new knowledge and reviewing previously learned history, the exhibition also stirred national pride. The Cai Khe Ward Youth Union will implement this thematic program and encourage its members and young people to visit and learn more. Ho Ngoc Minh Chau, a student from the Faculty of Political Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, Can Tho University, simply said: “Looking at the image of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on the book cover, my heart overflows with immense pride!”
