Mr. Ca Van Phuong, Head of Co My village, Thanh Chan commune (Dien Bien district)

Putting the people first in building new rural areas.

"The August Revolution and the lesson of putting the people first" are being promoted in the new rural development movement. This lesson is becoming even more important, contributing to the achievements of the people of Co My village, Thanh Chan commune (Dien Bien district) in building new rural areas.

Mr. Ca Van Phuong and the women's association members in Co My village researched information on production development from books and newspapers and applied it to practice.

With the motto: "The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, and the people benefit," the Party committee and government of Co My village always put the people first; promoting propaganda, being close to the people, understanding and listening to the opinions and aspirations of the people. From there, they mobilize the maximum strength of the people as a leverage in building new rural areas.

With a strong will to overcome poverty, the village's agricultural production continues to develop steadily. Co My has focused on investing in the development of key crops and livestock with competitive advantages. They have promoted crop diversification, improved productivity and quality, developed vegetable farming, and implemented crop rotation with rice to increase efficiency per unit area. In particular, through the movement of successful production and business with a dynamic, creative spirit, and a willingness to think outside the box and take risks, the people of Co My village have built many high-income production and livestock farming models, contributing to the construction of new rural areas (currently, only 6 out of 154 households in the village remain poor).

Consistent with the motto "Working from the household to the village," using the household as the core for mobilizing the construction of new rural areas, the people in the village have actively contributed ideas, labor, and land to build welfare facilities (cultural centers, roads, etc.). To create a green, clean, and beautiful village, the people actively clean up the environment, build livestock pens away from their homes, maintain the common environment, and repair houses, gates, and fences to brighten up the village and the surrounding area.

Captain Do Xuan Diem, Deputy Political Officer, Na Co Sa Border Guard Station

Firmly protect the borders of the Fatherland.

Stationed in the border commune of Na Cô Sa (Nậm Pồ district), the Na Cô Sa Border Guard Post is tasked with managing a 17.369km long border. Upholding the historical traditions of the August Revolution, and in order to firmly protect every inch of sacred land of the Fatherland and maintain peace on the border, in my capacity as Deputy Political Commissar and Secretary of the Youth Union branch, I, along with the Party Committee, the Party branch, and the Command Board of the Post, have led the unit to successfully fulfill its political nhiệm vụ.

Captain Do Xuan Diem and his comrades always stay close to the local area and maintain close contact with the people.

With the spirit of "The outpost is our home, the border is our homeland, and the people of all ethnic groups are our brothers and sisters," continuing the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers," each of us officers and soldiers, undeterred by hardship, stays close to the villages and borders, excellently fulfilling our nhiệm vụ of ensuring political security and firmly protecting every inch of sacred land of the Fatherland.

To help local people develop their economy and alleviate poverty, the Party Committee and the Command of the Border Guard Post have actively advised the local Party Committee and government to focus on leading and promoting economic development in the direction of shifting the agricultural production structure; using high-yield and high-quality rice varieties; introducing new crops (cardamom, pomelo, orange, jackfruit, plum) into production to maximize the potential and advantages of the locality. At the same time, they have sent working groups to the grassroots level to actively guide people in building many economic models; reclaiming land, intensifying cultivation to increase crop yields, building irrigation systems, applying science and technology to production, developing farms, and developing forest-garden economies...

The unit also collaborated with many organizations and compassionate individuals to provide support, medical check-ups, and free medicine to the people (mobilizing support and donating 400 warm blankets to students; implementing the "Border Guard Hairdresser" model to provide free haircuts for 350 people and students...). The most meaningful reward for me is the maintenance of peace in the area; the improvement of the lives of the local people; and the trust and unity of the people in working with the border guards to firmly protect national sovereignty and borders...

Lo Van Phong, a member of the Youth Union, from Phai Muong village, Muong Khong commune (Tuan Giao district).

Dedicate your youth to building your homeland.

“Like many other young people, I learned about the August Revolution of 1945 through films, history lessons, and the stories of my elders. I understand that the August Revolution is one of the most glorious and brilliant chapters in the history of nation-building and national defense of the Vietnamese people. To achieve that success, our forefathers shed countless sweat, tears, and blood. Therefore, with the responsibility of youth, I pledge to strive and continue the revolutionary tradition to build a stronger and more prosperous homeland and country.”

Mr. Lo Van Phong takes care of the herd of cows.

I was born and raised in a mountainous region with vast land. In 2010, I boldly borrowed 20 million VND from the bank, adding it to my savings to build barns and buy four breeding cows. At that time, I lacked knowledge and experience, and the cost of breeding stock was high; the initial period was very difficult. To ensure the cows grew and developed well, I read more books on farming techniques, participated in technical training courses on livestock farming, and applied the knowledge to my family's herd. Through diligent research and accumulated experience, the livestock developed healthily and produced high-quality animals. At its peak, the herd reached over 70 cows, bringing in an income of 100-200 million VND per year. I also traveled to Lao Cai province to learn about and buy cinnamon saplings to plant on an area of over 2 hectares. Currently, the cinnamon trees are growing and developing well, promising to bring high income in the coming years.

Drawing from my own success in establishing myself and my career, I actively share my experiences and support people, especially young people and members of youth organizations, in developing their economy through cattle farming; I encourage everyone to participate. I hope that the success of this model will not only help people, youth organizations, and young people create stable livelihoods but also spread the spirit of creative entrepreneurship among young people, thereby contributing to the building and development of our homeland. This is also a way for me and other young people to continue and multiply the values of the August Revolution.”

Giàng Nguyễn Thu Hà, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Department of Planning and Investment

Dedication and responsibility to the community

As a young Vietnamese person born and raised in peace, I am deeply aware of the immense significance of the August Revolution. Therefore, I am determined to strive and be responsible in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Ms. Giàng Nguyễn Thu Hà and the Youth Union of the Department of Planning and Investment donated computers to students in Nà Hỳ commune (Nậm Pồ district).

As the Secretary of the Youth Union, I have always strived to be at the forefront, readily dedicating my youthful energy and intellect to the cause of innovation and building a more prosperous and beautiful homeland. In particular, together with the Youth Union members of my agency, I actively mobilized and coordinated with various organizations to raise funds for computers and numerous gifts for disadvantaged students in Nậm Pồ district.

Imbued with the national tradition and moral principle of "Drinking water, remembering the source," I and the Youth Union of the agency have organized many practical activities, visiting "historical sites"; contributing together with the government to caring for the material and spiritual lives of families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and those who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution. Through this, we contribute to spreading the spirit and strength of the August Revolution of yesteryear, further motivating the younger generation to build a more prosperous and beautiful country, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading nations, as our beloved President Ho Chi Minh always wished.
