From the 'singing numbers' imbued with love

The 'shows' in the heart of Hanoi are not only 'stages' for music, but also spaces where humanity blends with songs, awakening love, so that anyone passing by can feel their hearts warmed...

For many years, every Wednesday evening in the heart of Hanoi, the songs filled with love of the members of the Love Connection Club have resounded in the streets of Hanoi . Together, they have persistently performed each song, tirelessly raised donations and promptly supported many disadvantaged lives.

Meeting point of the spirit of human connection

The Love Connection Club was co-founded by people living and working in Hanoi with the same humanitarian aspirations, including Chairman Do Hai Ha (born in 1976), Vice Chairman Do Thi Minh (born in 1970), Treasurer Doan Thi Thuy (born in 1976), singer Nguyen Thi Lan (born in 1971), accountant Nguyen Dinh Ngoc (born in 1983) - the person who provided information for the article and is currently working at Hanoi Locomotive Enterprise as a train driver. Although each person has a different work mission, they have joined hands to build the Club since May 28, 2020 (headquartered at No. 23, Tay Son Street, Hanoi).

Every time they sing, they travel dozens of kilometers to raise funds for charity. They persistently walk through locations such as: the lakeside area - Dong Xuan market; Tan Mai street - Den Lu lake; Linh Nam night market... Up to now, the group has performed 185 songs and continues their journey of love without an end. "We do charity work, in addition to giving love and material things, it is also a way to live a good, responsible and honest life," Ngoc shared.

Although their path of "connecting love" was not always smooth, there were even times when tears fell because of the damage caused by external factors, those people full of kindness towards the community persevered through all hardships, moving towards the traditional humanistic values of the Vietnamese people.

Loving "songs", fragrant human affection

Many people have stopped to listen to the voices that, although not from professional artists, are full of emotion and move people's hearts, sung on street corners, lakesides or near shops... when the city lights come on.

Mr. Ngoc said: "During the day, we are all busy with work, burdened with 'bread and butter', but when we do charity work, everyone feels happy, just hoping to help those in difficult situations...".

Many times they had to go to the assembly point before they could eat, so they had to buy some cakes and fruit... to fill their stomachs. Sometimes, on the way to sing, they met the disadvantaged, so they shared some food and drinks, calling it "a little gift, a lot of heart".

There were many things that surprised them, such as when a street vendor gave them fifty, when a disabled person who was struggling to make a living donated hundreds of dong, when a child over 10 years old ran out of the house with a piggy bank asking for donations (the parents allowed the piggy bank to be broken), and gave the entire amount of 656,000 dong to the group. There was even a person from the South who came to Hanoi for medical treatment and took out his wallet to give his heart, saying: "This is life. Kindness needs to be multiplied...".

Mr. Ngoc confided: "People were very welcoming. Some people asked to contribute their singing; some carefully verified the information - the purpose of the group and then donated 5 million; some gave a few hundred thousand and left, but somehow they came back to contribute more... It is known that, in addition to those positive things, there were times when the group was also given negative and harsh reviews by some passersby... so the female members felt sorry and cried. However, thinking about the meaning that the Club aimed for, they encouraged each other to revive their spirits, always grateful and happy because many noble people, audiences, and philanthropists opened their hearts to share and support the group to be confident on the journey of spreading kindness... "Sometimes we sang until our voices were hoarse, our legs were tired, we were tired, but we were happy. Many audiences thought we worked hard, but when we contributed a little bit to life, we naturally felt better," Mr. Ngoc said.

From the heart of Hanoi to the beloved homeland

All the material donations are used by the Love Connection Club for the sole purpose of "doing good". Many times, members of the group contribute their own money to support urgent cases. To ensure that the right people are helped, Mr. Ngoc often directly verifies and filters information sources about the situations that the group intends to support.

With a transparent charity model and clear principles, the Club has helped many individuals and groups in special circumstances in the area - hospitals in Hanoi and neighboring provinces. Some difficult circumstances were promptly shared the burden, receiving more than 10 - 20 million VND. On average, each case received about 10 million VND. For example, the family of Ms. Vu Thi Loc, residing in Tran Yen - Yen Bai, had their house burned down; Nguyen Thanh Nam had a spinal cord tumor treated at K3 Hospital - Tan Trieu and the case of an Indian yoga teacher living in Vietnam who had a traffic accident, with no relatives nearby, was promptly encouraged by the group.

They also carried out many large-scale charity trips: providing relief to people in flood-hit areas in the Central region in 2020; supporting the community during the Covid-19 pandemic, distributing 10,000 masks, necessities, food... in Bac Ninh, Van Lam, Hung Yen and some other places. Organizing Mid-Autumn Festival for children at the Social Protection Center of Ha Nam province; Yen Bai; Dien Bien...

Before implementing, the club's representatives proactively contacted the school principals, asked for permission from local authorities and were provided with actual documents, statistics on each gift: from a pair of sandals, a warm coat, a package of cakes, bowls and chopsticks, books... In particular, the program at Sao Mai Kindergarten in De Xu Phinh commune, Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai) in September 2023 (90 million VND); Muong Tung Kindergarten in Muong Cha (Dien Bien) in September 2024 (120 million VND). "We often start early, collecting about a dozen songs to have enough funds. Once, we went all the way to the factory in Thai Binh to get warm coats at the original price, saving every penny to take care of the children," Ngoc shared.

The group also went to the leprosy camp in Bac Ninh to give gifts to patients. There were people with amputated arms, amputated legs, or deformed bodies... "They were very lonely. When they cried, we also cried. We felt so sorry for them...", Ngoc sadly recalled.

The Love Connection Club has received many certificates of merit from local leaders and authorities in places where the group does charity work.

For a long time, the Club has always carried out charity work in a meticulous manner, creating prestige and gradually developing the scale of "connecting love", finding a gentle place to live slowly, calm down and keep faith in "the truth" amidst the hustle and bustle of social life. On that journey, the Connecting Love Club not only gathers kind-hearted people but also becomes a "humane meeting place" for many people, receiving certificates of merit, honor and deep recognition from local government leaders.

Many individuals wrote handwritten letters of gratitude, in which the following verses stood out: Be kind and honest / Use virtue to make merit for the future / Use merit to build bridges / Use deep compassion to help others... (excerpt from a letter from Do Thi Vuon's family).

As Mr. Ngoc said, they sing not to be known, but to "see", "to remember" that: goodness is always present around. That is also a way for the community to join hands and a way for them to remind each other of the value of humanity, making the "shows" in the heart of Hanoi not only a "stage" of music, but also a space of humanity mixed with lyrics, awakening love, so that anyone passing by will feel their heart warmed...
