Ho Chi Minh's thought is the nation's invaluable spiritual asset.

Ho Chi Minh - Hero of the Vietnamese people's liberation, world cultural celebrity, genius and beloved leader of our Party, our people and our nation. President Ho Chi Minh devoted his whole life to the Vietnamese revolutionary cause and to the liberation of oppressed peoples all over the world. He made our nation, our people, our country glorious. Under the brilliant flag of President Ho Chi Minh, a new era in the history of the Vietnamese nation was opened: the era of independence, freedom and socialism. His revolutionary ideology and theory left our nation and peace-loving humanity in the world an extremely great and valuable legacy, which is the truth: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom". Although the world is turning and changing unpredictably, Ho Chi Minh's ideology still exists forever, inherited, developed and reached new heights by generations of Vietnamese people.

From a world perspective, many politicians, many researchers of ideology, philosophy, and history abroad, including some developed capitalist countries, have soon recognized and affirmed: Ho Chi Minh is a unique and outstanding thinker and revolutionary.

The 7th National Party Congress affirmed: "The Party takes Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought as the ideological foundation and compass for action". Yet there are still some people who are wavering in their ideological stance, following the distorted arguments of hostile and reactionary forces when they say: "There is no Ho Chi Minh Thought".

During his lifetime, our beloved Uncle Ho always modestly admitted that he was not an ideologist, but in reality, during his revolutionary activities, his ideology was gradually formed and developed to perfection, recognized by the Party and the Vietnamese people, comrades, and friends around the world. Our Party affirmed: "Ho Chi Minh's ideology is a comprehensive and profound system of viewpoints on the fundamental issues of the Vietnamese revolution" (1).

In which, the idea of “National independence associated with socialism is the central thesis of Ho Chi Minh’s thought, it penetrates and runs through his entire system of thought in all periods and in all fields” (2). It should be emphasized that, before the concept of Ho Chi Minh’s thought appeared, the world had already recognized Ho Chi Minh’s thought. UNESCO affirmed: “Ho Chi Minh’s thought is the embodiment of the aspirations of nations in protecting their national identity and represents the promotion of mutual understanding” (3). Many scientists , leaders, and progressive organizations in the world have also recognized President Ho Chi Minh as an ideologist. The great achievements that the Vietnamese revolution has achieved thanks to the creative application of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh’s thought through each revolutionary stage have firmly consolidated this correct viewpoint.

More blatantly and ridiculously, some people even claim that Ho Chi Minh's ideology is different and opposite to Marxism-Leninism in nature; on the other hand, they "glorify" Ho Chi Minh's ideology and downplay the value and role of Marxism-Leninism for the Vietnamese revolution. Both of these views are wrong both historically and logically.

Historically, Marxism-Leninism has shown the way to the future for nations through a system of scientific, revolutionary and humanistic theories, not only helping mankind to perceive the world correctly but also to transform the world in a positive direction, serving the interests of mankind. Marxism-Leninism is the important source leading to the formation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology.

Logically, Ho Chi Minh's thought is the creative application and development of Marxism-Leninism to the specific conditions of our country, inheriting traditional cultural values of the nation, absorbing the quintessence of human culture. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh's thought is unified with Marxism-Leninism in nature and the dissemination of that ideology in Vietnam is a process reflecting logical steps, without any contradictions or oppositions as inferred and distorted by some opposing and hostile elements.

There is a view that Ho Chi Minh was a nationalist, not a communist, and only emphasized solidarity, not struggle. This argument has made public opinion skeptical about the scientific, revolutionary, and humanistic nature of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, causing confusion, wavering, and dividing the political, ideological, and organizational unity within the Party, reducing the trust of cadres, party members, and people of all walks of life in the Party's leadership.

Some people even believe that Marxism-Leninism was once valuable but has been surpassed by history and that it is only suitable for Western countries, while Ho Chi Minh's ideology is suitable for Vietnam. Through that, they try to call for "just following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ignoring Marxism-Leninism". They use "conspiracy theories" to remove Marxism-Leninism from the Party's ideological foundation, in the name of promoting Ho Chi Minh's ideology, but in reality, it is to deny both Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's ideology.

This trick is very sophisticated, because, in Ho Chi Minh's thought, there is Marxism-Leninism. If separated from the source, core elements, essence, and most important theoretical foundation, the scientific, revolutionary, and humanistic nature of Ho Chi Minh's thought will be lost. On the other hand, taking advantage of the Party's recent anti-corruption and negativity campaign, some people have used the excuse of slandering and accusing our Party of "internal strife" and "fighting among factions for power". They appear objective when using Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style as a "reference system" to evaluate and judge the Party, in order to both deliberately lower Ho Chi Minh's thought and deny the Party's leadership role, causing confusion, loss of confidence, division, and loss of internal solidarity.

They gave reasons and claimed that Ho Chi Minh was a saint while we, ordinary people, do not have the ability to learn and follow; Ho Chi Minh was an ascetic, while we are living a normal life in the modern world. President Ho Chi Minh was not an ascetic and never showed himself to be a saint, he was just an ordinary person "of flesh and blood", he once asked his cadres to give him advice, saying: "If I have a stain on my forehead, you comrades see it, but you use the excuse of "respecting him" and not saying anything, I will carry the stain forever" (4).

President Ho Chi Minh is one of the very few figures in history who became a legend while still alive. Until now, his ideology still retains its value and "is an extremely great and precious spiritual asset of the Party and of our nation, forever illuminating the path for the revolutionary cause of our people to win victory" (5). The stature of Ho Chi Minh's ideology is also humanistic, not only affirmed in the 20th century, but also demonstrated in the present and the future. Resolutely fighting, refuting, and opposing the arguments that distort and deny Ho Chi Minh's ideology is to protect the nature, content, value, and vitality of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's ideology - the ideological foundation of the Party./.
