The 12th Vietnam-Russia Consular Consultation: Comprehensive and Substantive

Also attending the meeting were Russian Ambassador to Vietnam GS Bezdetko, Russian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City TS Sadykov and Russian Consul General in Da Nang MG Mizonova, along with representatives of the two Foreign Ministries of each side.

At the meeting, the two sides had a comprehensive and substantive exchange on consular issues such as the situation of entry and exit, residence of citizens of the two countries in each other's territory, citizen protection work, activities of consular agencies and other issues of mutual concern. The two sides affirmed to continue to actively and closely cooperate to improve the effectiveness of bilateral consular work.

In the context of Vietnam-Russia cooperation being constantly strengthened and expanded, consular work and citizen protection continue to make practical contributions to promoting the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, serving the common interests of the two peoples.

The regular consular consultation mechanism between the two sides has become an important exchange forum, recorded in the Cooperation Plan between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs . Up to now, the two sides have successfully organized 12 consular consultations, thereby enhancing understanding of each other's policies and laws, and removing many obstacles in the implementation of consular work. This is also an effective channel for exchanging experiences between the functional units of the two countries in the process of implementing the functions and tasks of each side.

Building on the results of the 11th Consular Consultation held in Moscow in 2024, the two sides agreed that this consular consultation meeting continued to achieve much substantive progress in resolving consular issues as well as opening up new directions for cooperation in the coming time.
