I used to criticize One UI as "garbage," but now I'm a fan of Samsung.
Many features on Samsung phones were once considered "useless," but real-world experience has shown them to be more useful than imagined.

Samsung has long been criticized by users for pre-installing too much software and features, often considered "bloatware," on its Galaxy phones. However, real-world experience with the One UI interface shows that not everything is as useless as many people thought. (Image: MUO) One of the most surprising features is the Now bar, a tool developed by Samsung since One UI 7 and further refined in One UI 8.5 to quickly display contextual information such as music controls, sports scores , directions, or timer status directly on the lock screen.
Initially, many thought the Now bar was just a copycat of Apple's Dynamic Island, but in reality, this feature is more versatile thanks to its intelligent display and convenient location at the bottom of the screen, allowing for significantly faster operation during daily use.
Another feature that was once considered annoying is Edge Panel, the small toolbar located on the edge of the Galaxy screen, but when combined with AI Select, it becomes a powerful multitasking tool allowing for screenshots, GIF creation, quick searches, and split-screen app opening with great convenience. Beyond supporting multitasking, Edge Panel also acts as a quick access hub, allowing users to instantly open frequently used apps like Chrome, Maps, Slack, or Mail without exiting their current application, which is especially useful on large-screen Galaxy models. Meanwhile, Samsung Find was once considered redundant due to overlapping functionality with Google Find Hub, but many users, after experiencing it, realized that having an extra layer of device location protection is extremely useful when the phone is lost or stolen. (Image: MUO) Samsung Find now supports offline device location tracking, sharing location with loved ones, and sending alerts when the device arrives at or leaves a specific location, making it a valuable supplementary tool alongside Google's Android ecosystem instead of just unnecessary pre-installed software.
Although Galaxy phones still have a number of controversial pre-installed apps, the reality is that many features on One UI are only labeled "junk" because users haven't truly experienced them properly. When utilized effectively, they become tools that significantly enhance the daily smartphone experience.
