Vietnam women's volleyball team leaves for Thailand to attend world championship

VHO - On the morning of August 20, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team arrived at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi), before departing for Thailand to participate in the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship.

The Vietnamese women's team going to Thailand this time has 13 players, of which setter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen is absent due to personal reasons.

The players include main attackers: Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Thi Phuong; middle attackers: Nguyen Thi Trinh, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Le Thanh Thuy, Pham Thi Hien; opposite setter: Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh; setters: Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa; liberos: Nguyen Khanh Dang, Nguyen Thi Ninh Anh.

At the 2025 World Championship, the Vietnamese women's team (ranked 22nd in the world ) is in Group G with opponents Poland (ranked 3rd in the world), Germany (ranked 11th in the world) and Kenya (ranked 23rd in the world).

According to the schedule, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will have their first match against Poland on August 23, then Germany on August 25 and Kenya on August 27.

In the group stage, the teams compete in a round robin, calculating points to select the top 2 teams to enter the round of 16.

To prepare for this tournament, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team had two quality friendly matches against Spain (lost 0-4) and Kenya (won 4-0).

Previously, the Vietnamese women's team defeated the Thai team for the first time to win a match at the SEA V.League.

Participating in the world's most prestigious playground for the first time, competing with the world's top opponents, especially Poland and Germany, will be an opportunity for Thanh Thuy and her teammates to learn and gain more experience.

The World Championship is also the final tournament in the preparation journey for the 33rd SEA Games, the biggest goal of the year for the Vietnamese women's team.
