Vietnam futsal team beat China 7-2 in Asian tournament

On the evening of September 22, the Vietnamese futsal team defeated host China 7-2 in the second match of Group E of the 2026 Asian Futsal Qualifiers, thereby firmly taking the top spot with 6 absolute points.

Before the match, the fact that China only lost 1-2 to Lebanon - the opponent that held Vietnam to a draw in the 2021 Futsal World Cup play-off - made many people predict that coach Diego Giustozzi and his team would face many difficulties.

However, the futsal team entered the game confidently and quickly dominated the game. In the 37th second, Doan Phat opened the score, before Ngoc Anh scored two goals in the 3rd and 4th minutes. Da Hai increased the score to 4-0 in the 10th minute and Thinh Phat closed the first half perfectly with the 5th goal in the 15th minute.

In the second half, Vietnam took the initiative to slow down to save energy for the match against Lebanon. However, Thinh Phat still managed to score a double, raising the score to 7-0. The last efforts only helped the home team to score two honorary goals in the 36th and 38th minutes, thereby accepting a 2-7 defeat.

The victory helped Vietnam lead Group E with a superior goal difference, and also created a big advantage before the decisive match against Lebanon on September 24. The West Asian opponent currently has 4 points and must win to take the top spot in the group. Meanwhile, coach Giustozzi and his team only need a draw to win a direct ticket to the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship.

Although the advantage is on Vietnam’s side, the encounter with Lebanon is expected to be very tense. The West Asian representative is known for its physical strength, tactical discipline and experience, and has repeatedly caused difficulties for Vietnamese futsal players in the continental arena.
