Tuyen Hoa District currently has a total area of 78,702.47 hectares of natural forest, 13,443.76 hectares of planted forest, and 5,041.58 hectares of unforested land designated for forestry. The local area has a large forest and forest land area, steep slopes, and many roads serving forest patrols are quite treacherous and complex; some communes have forest areas bordering other districts and provinces, making access, patrolling, control, and information gathering difficult, affecting the effectiveness of forest management, protection, and fire prevention and control.
To proactively manage forest fires during the dry season, starting from the beginning of 2025, the Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department advised the District People's Committee to promptly identify key areas with a high risk of forest fires in the district in order to effectively "zone" and respond to any situation without being caught off guard. In particular, the District People's Committee continues to direct units, localities, and forest owners to adhere to the "four on-the-spot" principle for effective forest fire prevention and control, tailored to the specific realities of each area and the characteristics of existing forests...
According to Nguyen Van Hue, Head of the Tuyen Hoa Forest Protection Department: To date, the district has identified high-risk areas for forest fires, including: pine plantations funded by projects 327 and 661 (in Son Hoa, Mai Hoa, Duc Hoa, Thach Hoa communes and Dong Le town); degraded natural forest areas, mixed forests of timber, bamboo, and reeds; native tree plantations funded by support projects; and areas of mixed reed and bush plantations that have been handed over to households for management (in Lam Hoa, Thanh Hoa , Huong Hoa, Kim Hoa, Mai Hoa, Cao Quang, and Duc Hoa communes).
Based on the identification of key areas at high risk of forest fires, currently, for the area of pine resin plantations funded by projects 327 and 661, the entire district has cleared undergrowth on approximately 49-75% of the area; and organized the deployment of forces and equipment to be on duty 24/7 in these areas. For other areas, units, localities and forest owners in the district have carried out undergrowth clearing and removal of flammable materials under the forest canopy, achieving over 80% (some communes have cleared nearly 100% of the undergrowth, such as Kim Hoa, Son Hoa, Cao Quang...).
| Currently, Tuyen Hoa district has one Steering Committee for the sustainable forestry development program at the district level, 19 Steering Committees of the People's Committees of communes and towns with forests, and one Steering Committee for forest owners. In addition, the entire district has established 149 teams, groups, and subcommittees for forest protection and fire prevention and control at the grassroots level, with a total of 1,330 people. |
Currently, functional units in Tuyen Hoa are continuing to strengthen the work of directing, inspecting, and urging forest owners to clear undergrowth and reduce flammable materials under the forest canopy; inspecting and repairing the propaganda signs that have been hung or erected in fire-prone forest areas, easily visible areas, and near traffic routes so that people are aware and careful when using fire in and around forests.
From an early stage, the People's Committee of Tuyen Hoa district issued a directive instructing localities, agencies, units, and forest owners to implement urgent forest fire prevention and control measures, such as: reviewing, adjusting, and supplementing forest fire prevention and control plans to suit the practical realities of each area; building maps of key areas prone to forest fires; adjusting and supplementing key forest fire areas in the field into the already constructed forest fire risk zoning map (including: key areas prone to fires; firebreaks, water reservoirs, and stations; main roads and trails in the forest; residential areas, People's Committee offices, markets, schools, agencies, etc.); and organizing awareness campaigns for officials, civil servants, and the people in the area regarding the Forestry Law and related documents. Currently, communes and forest-owning units in Tuyen Hoa district have opened forest fire prevention and control duty rosters starting from the hot days of the 2025 dry season.
