Vietnam U17 team has brilliantly qualified for the 2026 World Cup. |
The 2026 U17 World Cup will be a truly unique tournament in the history of world youth football, with 48 teams participating for the first time. This also marks the second year that FIFA has adopted an annual format for the tournament, from 2025 to 2029, opening up great opportunities for many youth football nations to assert their position.
The tournament will take place in Qatar from November 19th to December 13th, 2026. Notably, Qatar will become the first country to host five consecutive U17 World Cups, utilizing the modern facilities previously used for the 2022 World Cup.
To date, FIFA has confirmed 38 out of 48 teams that have qualified for the finals. The Asian region has finalized its nine representatives (including host nation Qatar) after the group stage of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship concluded. These teams include Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Japan, China, Australia, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and Vietnam U17.
Among these achievements, the Vietnam U17 team made history by qualifying for the U17 World Cup for the first time after topping Group C with a thrilling victory over the UAE U17 team. This achievement is even more remarkable as the Vietnam U17 team became the only representative from Southeast Asia to participate in the biggest youth football tournament on the planet.
