A well-structured process reduces input costs.
In the context of the rice industry's strong shift towards high-quality rice production, reduced costs, and stable consumer markets, the demonstration model of ST25 rice cultivation implemented by Kingenta Vietnam Co., Ltd. at Viet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, Cau Ke commune, Vinh Long province, has shown positive signs, creating confidence among local farmers.

The model was implemented during the autumn-winter season of 2025 on an area of 2 hectares in Tra Khao hamlet, directly cultivated by farmer Thach Sua Sa Di, a member of Viet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative. The model used certified ST25 rice variety, combined with a synchronized range of imported fertilizers from Kingenta Vietnam Co., Ltd. to evaluate growth efficiency, yield, and economic effectiveness.
According to Mr. Kien Tam, Director of Viet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, the highlight of the model is the scientifically designed cultivation process, suitable to the local soil conditions and production practices. The amount of seeds sown has been reduced to about 120 kg/ha, lower than the traditional method, helping to reduce costs and limit pests and diseases from the beginning of the season.
“All fertilizers used in the model are supplied by Kingenta Vietnam Co., Ltd., including both basal and foliar fertilizers. The products are used at the right time and according to the nutritional needs of the rice plants at each growth stage, so the rice grows uniformly, is strong, and is less prone to lodging,” Mr. Kien Tam commented.
Typical fertilizer products under the Ferland (USA) brand, such as King Phos (18-46-0), King Phos (20-20-0), King UEA (30-0-5+Mg), specialized NPK (20-20-15), along with foliar fertilizers supplementing micronutrients, are applied throughout the cultivation process. As a result, ST25 rice fields grow vigorously, with upright leaves, well-developed root systems, and produce firm, uniform rice grains.

The effect is clearly visible.
The harvesting model yielded an average of 5.5 tons/ha. While many surrounding areas used other varieties with lower or comparable yields but lower selling prices, the ST25 rice in the model was purchased directly from the field at 8,100 VND/kg (fresh rice).
In particular, the entire rice output in the model is purchased by the enterprise, giving farmers peace of mind in production without worrying about market demand. After deducting costs, the profit from the model is significantly higher than that of many households farming using traditional methods in the locality.
Mr. Kien Tam stated that this result is an important basis for the cooperative to plan the expansion of ST25 rice cultivation area according to Kingenta Vietnam's process throughout the cooperative in the coming seasons. "We will continue to promote and encourage members to participate, and at the same time, strengthen our links with businesses to form a stable raw material area, producing high-quality rice with guaranteed purchase agreements for the rice crops in 2026," Mr. Tam said.

As a farmer participating in the ST25 rice variety cultivation demonstration program for the first time, Thach Sua Sa Di was delighted with the results. Compared to previous methods, this model helped him reduce the amount of seeds sown and fertilizer costs while the rice still grew very well. Yields were good, and the selling price was high, so the farmers were very happy.
According to Mr. Thach Sua Sa Di, having businesses accompany farmers from technical support to product distribution is a key factor that helps them confidently change their farming practices. He hopes that the ST25 rice variety will continue to be widely cultivated, bringing stable income and increasing the value of local rice.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri, Director of the Western Region of Kingenta Vietnam Co., Ltd., said that Kingenta Vietnam is a member of Kingenta's Group – a large fertilizer manufacturing group with factories located in China, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, etc. The Group's products are manufactured using advanced technology, certified by the European Fertilizer Association (IFA), and distributed in many countries around the world.
Kingenta Vietnam has built a widespread distribution system and a team of highly specialized technicians, ready to support farmers throughout the production process. Through demonstration models such as at Viet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, the company aims to prove the practical effectiveness of its products, thereby building trust and encouraging wider adoption by farmers.
According to Mr. Tri, in the context of climate change and increasingly demanding market requirements, producing rice using systematic processes, high-quality fertilizers, and linked consumption is an inevitable direction. The ST25 rice production model in Vinh Long has demonstrated effective linkages between businesses, cooperatives, and farmers, helping to increase value and reduce production costs.

“The initial success of the ST25 rice cultivation demonstration model in the 2025 autumn-winter crop not only brings economic benefits to participants but also opens up prospects for scaling up high-quality rice production, contributing to elevating the status of Vietnamese rice in domestic and international markets,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri, Director of the Western Region - Kingenta Vietnam Co., Ltd.
