Thanh Ha lychees have long been known as a famous specialty deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the Eastern region. This product has been granted geographical indication protection, is among the top 10 famous brands and trademarks, and has been voted "The Quintessence of Specialties from Three Regions".
In 2015, the original lychee tree in Thuy Lam village (Thanh Son commune, former Thanh Ha district) was recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as the "Oldest Lychee Tree". Thanh Ha lychees are currently considered one of the best-tasting lychees in Vietnam.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong City, in 2026, the entire city will have approximately 9,350 hectares of lychee orchards, mainly concentrated in the communes and wards of: Ha Dong, Thanh Ha, Ha Nam, Ha Bac, Ha Tay, Lac Phuong, Tu Ky, Ninh Giang, Nam Thanh Mien, Tran Hung Dao, Tran Nhan Tong, Nguyen Trai, An Truong…
Of that, early-season lychee varieties account for about 50% of the area, and main-season lychee varieties account for about 50%. The total lychee production in the city in 2026 is estimated at about 55,000 tons, including about 35,000 tons of early-season lychees and 20,000 tons of main-season lychees.

Currently, Hai Phong city has 57 lychee growing areas that have been granted 181 export codes serving markets such as China, the United States, Australia, Japan, and Thailand, and 7 packaging facilities that have been granted 16 export codes.
To improve the quality and value of products, since the beginning of 2026, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong city has proactively coordinated with major distribution and export businesses such as GO Vietnam, AEON Top Value Vietnam, DRAGONBERRY Vietnam Co., Ltd., Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Red Dragon Fruit Vietnam Co., Ltd., etc., to plan planting areas and link production with product consumption.
In addition, the city's agricultural sector is strengthening technical guidance on crop care, pest and disease control, production according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, and closely monitoring the use of pesticides to ensure quality and export standards.
In early May 2026, the first batches of lychees began to be harvested and brought to market. Accordingly, the product will not only serve domestic consumption but also be exported to many demanding markets such as the United States, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and the EU. It is expected that in 2026, approximately 50% of the city's total lychee production will be exported, with the Chinese market accounting for about 40%, and the remainder going to other high-end markets.

According to Ms. Luong Thi Kiem, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong City, the Department will continue to support businesses and farmers in developing safe agricultural production. At the same time, it will create favorable conditions for the purchase, consumption, and export of Thanh Ha lychees and welcome businesses, supermarkets, and shopping centers nationwide to cooperate and connect with Hai Phong in consuming agricultural products.
Ms. Pham Thi Huyen Trang, representative of Thanh Ha Safe Vegetable and Fruit Company Limited, pledged to maintain product quality, stabilize prices, and ensure a continuous and safe supply chain to meet the needs of supermarket systems as well as domestic and international consumers.
Organizing promotional events for Thanh Ha lychees at GO Vietnam supermarkets is of significant importance in connecting consumption, enhancing brand value, and expanding markets for Hai Phong agricultural products, while also contributing to bringing local specialties closer to consumers both domestically and internationally.
