In round 1 of V-League 2025-2026, two newly renamed clubs, Ho Chi Minh City Police and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City, will meet Hanoi and HAGL respectively. Meanwhile, "newcomer" Ninh Binh will be a guest on the field of Hong Linh Ha Tinh.
9.5 Billion Dong: Huge Prize Awaits
V-League 2025-2026 has 14 professional clubs participating. Of which, 3 clubs have just changed their names: Becamex TP HCM (renamed from Becamex Binh Duong), Cong An TP HCM (renamed from TP HCM Club) and Ninh Binh (renamed from Phu Dong Ninh Binh). Other clubs still keep their names including: Dong A Thanh Hoa, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, HAGL, Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Quang Nam , SHB Da Nang, Song Lam Nghe An, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, The Cong Viettel.
With the round-robin format (home and away) to calculate points and rank, the new season of V-League will have a total of 26 rounds with 182 matches. The total prize value of the three leading teams is 9.5 billion VND.
In addition, new changes in this tournament include: two direct relegation slots for the two teams in the bottom two positions of the final table; the maximum number of foreign players registered is 4 players/team not participating in international competitions and 7 players for teams participating in club football tournaments organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Same province derbies
With the merger of provinces and cities from July 1, 2025, V-League will have more intra-provincial derby matches. This is an opportunity to develop the image of the tournament as well as expectations for changes in football management and development to suit the capacity and actual conditions of the localities.
According to the draw results for the first round, Quang Nam will host Song Lam Nghe An at home; Nam Dinh will meet Hai Phong at the "fire pan" Thien Truong; Ha Tinh will face newcomer Ninh Binh while Da Nang will play away at Thanh Hoa.
In addition to the two exciting matches between HAGL - Becamex TP HCM and Cong An TP HCM - Hanoi, fans will soon enjoy the competition in the capital derby between Cong An Hanoi - The Cong Viettel.
