According to a report by the Van Don District Business Association, the first three months of 2025 saw significant activity from many tourism service businesses. Notably, Viet Thuan Co., Ltd. completed its tourism product connecting Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. Mai Quyen Co., Ltd. and CEO Van Don Company are researching the development of sightseeing and accommodation vessels. The Bai Tu Long National Park Management Board is developing tourism products linked to nature conservation.
Specifically, Mai Quyen One-Member Limited Liability Company has hired a consulting firm to survey locations for mooring buoys and signage for tourist routes in Bai Tu Long Bay; and has also invested in building two additional overnight cruise ships in Bai Tu Long Bay to serve the diverse needs of tourists. The company plans to put the second passenger terminal at Ao Tien International Port into operation by the end of 2025.
Previously, in May 2024, Viet Thuan Transport Company Limited launched the "Heritage Journey" route connecting Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay using the luxury Grand Pioneers cruise ship, with itineraries of 3 days and 2 nights or 4 days and 3 nights.
Ms. Cao Thi Ly, a tourist from Hanoi , said: "We booked tickets to visit Bai Tu Long Bay on the luxury Grand Pioneers cruise ship. We were truly impressed with the areas within Bai Tu Long National Park, and the island communes of Quan Lan, Minh Chau, and Ban Sen in Van Don district..."
Van Don is increasingly attracting and developing its tourist fleet. According to Mr. Ta Duc Quyen, Director of Operations at Ao Tien International Port, Van Don can currently mobilize nearly 100 passenger vessels with capacities ranging from 30 to 300 seats per vessel. The two Grand Pioneers cruise ships of Viet Thuan Transport Co., Ltd. alone have over 100 high-class rooms and are the first overnight cruise ships in Vietnam to meet the VR-SB technical standard, operating in all coastal waters of Vietnam at a speed of 13 nautical miles per hour and with a continuous operating time of thousands of hours. Other vessels also meet the technical standards set by the province. Specifically: Technical standards must meet at least VR-SI; vessels must have a tonnage of 20 or more bedrooms; VR-SB standards are encouraged; hull material is steel or equivalent; minimum design speed is 8 nautical miles per hour; continuous operating time is 72 hours. The overall layout on board ensures sufficient areas for guest accommodation, meeting 3-star standards or higher according to TCVN 9372:2012 for tourist accommodation vessels…
Van Don tourism is facing new opportunities, especially with the province's announcement of 8 itineraries for visiting Ha Long Bay, 10 itineraries for visiting Bai Tu Long Bay, and 3 itineraries connecting the two bays. These routes are expected to launch in March 2025. Notably, in 2025, the province plans to host the "Art for Climate - Ha Long Bay 2025" event, with approximately 200 global billionaires in attendance. During the program, luxury yachts will be anchored at beautiful beaches between Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay.
