A special highlight of this year's Games is the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Arena—an iconic venue also known as Aichi Budokan. This has been chosen as the official competition venue for martial arts including kurash, jiu-jitsu, and wushu throughout the event.

The culture of martial arts will shine at Aichi Budokan.

During the second World Press Conference held in Nagoya, international delegates had the opportunity to tour and visit the facilities serving the Games. The tour route included: the Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium in Nagoya, the prestigious venue for the opening and closing ceremonies and athletics events; and, of course, the Budokan Arena.

From the very first glance, this structure makes a strong impression thanks to its uniquely designed entrance, mimicking the appearance of an ancient stone temple. The harmonious combination of opulent Japanese artistic details subtly arranged inside and advanced infrastructure gives this venue the feel of a modern arena dedicated to martial arts.

Stepping inside the main hall of the arena, also known as the dojo, spectators will be overwhelmed by its vast size of 1,518 square meters, with a floor paved with high-quality oak wood. To optimize the fan experience, the Budokan's grandstand is designed with a total capacity of 2,224 people, including 1,504 fixed seats and an additional 720 movable seats that can be flexibly adjusted according to the actual needs of each competition.

With its culturally significant setting, Aichi Budokan is expected to be the perfect venue to offer audiences spectacular and dramatic performances of three highly influential martial arts.

The presence of these disciplines at the Games also paints a vibrant picture of sporting diversity across the continent. While kurash showcases the cultural essence originating from Central Asian Uzbekistan, jiu-jitsu represents a fascinating transformation, having its roots in Japan but now thriving in Asia thanks to the impetus from the United Arab Emirates. The final piece enriching the martial arts festival is wushu, a martial art that has always been warmly received by the public and has a long history originating from China.

All these factors promise to make Aichi Budokan a shining cultural and martial arts hub at this year's Asian Games.
