Following National Highway 1A southward, passing through Can Tho, Soc Trang , and Bac Lieu, we arrived in Ca Mau. This southernmost city boasts a national and international-scale project built in the heart of U Minh Ha: the Ca Mau Gas-Electricity-Fertilizer Plant, which is currently operating at full capacity…

Ca Mau has a dense network of rivers and canals like a spiderweb, with large estuaries such as Ong Doc estuary, Bay Hap estuary, Cua Lon estuary, Rach Goc estuary, and Bo De estuary. Off the coast, Ca Mau has islands such as Hon Khoai, Hon Chuoi, and Hon Da Bac, which have great potential for tourism development.

The most impressive sight is when we arrive at Ca Mau Cape, at the national coordinate marker: 8.3730 degrees North latitude, 104.43 degrees East longitude. Today, a National Conservation Area has been established here. A Cultural and Tourism Park is located within the Conservation Area. The most prominent feature is the symbol in the shape of a ship pointing its bow towards the open, windy sea... Every year, Ca Mau Cape expands into the sea by nearly 100 meters. Every 100 years, it gains an area equivalent to more than an entire district. Standing on the 21-meter-high observation tower, we felt a sense of awe and emotion as we gazed upon the vast expanse of sea and forest of our homeland, with its vibrant green colors and abundant vitality.

At Ca Mau Cape, you can leisurely stroll through fishing villages nestled under mangrove forests to learn about the lives and activities of the local inhabitants. Due to its unique geographical location, Ca Mau Cape is the only place on the mainland of Vietnam where you can see both the sunrise and sunset over the sea.

Visiting the "Forest Villages" in what is now Nam Can District, you'll find traces of history still lingering! You'll be amazed and impressed by the way our cadres, soldiers, and people organized and lived during the arduous years of resistance against foreign invaders. In the center of these "Forest Villages," there were absolutely no roads. All communication and interaction took place on the water, under the dense, dark canopy of the forest. The paths crisscrossing the villages were made of mangrove, nipa palm, and other similar trees, closely interwoven to create convenient transportation routes. These "Forest Villages" were like miniature societies, becoming impregnable fortresses for Zone 9 and the people and army of Ca Mau at that time! High-ranking leaders such as Le Duc Anh, Vo Van Kiet, and Vu Dinh Lieu were closely associated with these "Forest Villages" during the resistance against the American invasion.

This is one of the most thriving fishing areas in Vietnam, with the Ong Doc river fishing port annually catching over 60,000 tons of fish. It would be remiss not to explore the U Minh Ha Melaleuca Forest. This pristine forest, vast and flooded during the rainy season and dry during the dry season, covers an area of approximately 90,000 hectares in Tran Van Thoi and Thoi Binh districts. The forest is home to many animal species such as monkeys, deer, wild boars, red squirrels, otters, bats, and hundreds of rare and endangered bird species listed in the Red Book, including the Javanese rail, grey-headed eagle, black eagle, white-necked crane, Indian stork, snail stork, grey-footed pelican, egret, and golden heron. The U Minh Ha Forest is of great ecological and scientific research value.

Returning to Ca Mau City, if you have a nostalgic soul, visit Hong Anh Bookstore to contemplate the historical past of a place that once served as a meeting and propaganda center for the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League. This historical site is now located at 41 Pham Van Ky Street, Ward 2, Ca Mau City…

Visiting the ancient temple "Sac Tu Quan Am Co Tu," you will admire its ancient architecture and hear the legendary story of Venerable Thich Tri Tam, the founder and abbot of the ancient temple. The temple still preserves the royal decree issued by King Thieu Tri in 1842.
