Volleyball players are a dream role model for women.
In 2012, Women's Health magazine (UK) conducted a survey of 1,000 women of different ages about which sport 's athletes they found most attractive. The result was that volleyball won.
In this survey, many reasons were given. In summary, Women's Health magazine explained that the reason volleyball wins is not only due to the appearance of the male athletes, but also to their temperament.
"The volleyball players look like they just stepped out of a fashion photoshoot. They are tall, broad-shouldered, with just the right amount of toned physique without being overly muscular, coupled with agility and a calm demeanor," the magazine stated.
Another survey conducted in 2018 by Men's Journal magazine ranked volleyball, along with swimming and tennis, as one of the "three sports that make men the hottest in the eyes of women."
In Korean and Japanese culture, volleyball is often portrayed through anime, manga, and manhwa as the sport with the most female students idolizing male athletes.
Why is volleyball so appealing to women?
This is a topic of interest to researchers in the fields of behavioral evolution and neuroscience. Volleyball is considered a sport that requires quick reflexes, full-body movement, precise coordination of eyes, hands, and feet, and especially the ability to judge.

According to research conducted by a team led by Dr. Bernhard Fink of the University of Göttingen (Germany), published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior in 2007:
"Women tend to be attracted to men who are agile and rhythmic. These are subtle signs of a healthy nervous system, good genes, and a favorable biological foundation for the survival and development of offspring – important factors in the subconscious choice of a partner," said Dr. Fink.
In addition, the physique of volleyball players also conforms to universally accepted standards of attractive body shape.
According to research from the University of Texas (USA), a waist-to-shoulder ratio of approximately 0.6 to 0.7 is the ideal size that most women find attractive.
This is also a common ratio among professional volleyball players, as the sport helps develop strong shoulder, thigh, and waist muscles without sacrificing body flexibility.
Beyond its visual appeal, volleyball also develops psychosocial traits that make it even more attractive to players.

According to a study published in the Journal of Social Psychology in 2015, team sports like volleyball have a positive impact on EQ – emotional intelligence. This helps players better control their emotions, communicate effectively, and harmonize in a team environment.
These are the qualities that women often value in a potential partner: being understanding, non-violent, cooperative, and committed to mutual benefit.
Furthermore, volleyball players are generally considered to have a calm and confident demeanor, but not as aggressive as players in contact sports, nor as reserved as those in table tennis or badminton.
Of course, sexual attractiveness is a complex concept, influenced by many factors such as appearance, personality, living environment, and culture. But the truth is, volleyball is a sport that brings out physical beauty, as well as a healthy lifestyle.
