Why is a driver who runs a red light twice still being commended?

(PLVN) - A driver in Da Lat who ran a red light to take a seriously injured person to the emergency room was not administratively punished and received thanks from the Lam Dong Traffic Police Department for this noble gesture.

On June 16, the Traffic Police Department of Lam Dong Province Police informed that they had worked with driver Nguyen Tien Thanh (residing in Ward 10, Da Lat City).

Previously, on the afternoon of June 9, a driver of a private car with license plate 49A-738xx ran a red light at the intersection of Nguyen Van Cu - 3/2 Street, Da Lat City. The incident was immediately recorded through the traffic surveillance camera system.

The authorities have invited Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh (the driver who ran the red light carrying the injured person to the emergency room) to come to the scene. Mr. Thanh explained that he ran the red light because he was taking a seriously injured victim to the emergency room.

Accordingly, while traveling on Ta Nung Pass, Mr. Thanh discovered a young man who had fallen off his motorbike and was in critical condition, so he decided to take the victim to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the urgency, he was forced to run a red light to shorten the time.

After reviewing all camera data and verifying information with the hospital, the Traffic Police Department confirmed that the incident was true. The Traffic Police Department decided not to issue an administrative penalty notice to the driver, and acknowledged his sense of responsibility and humanity in an emergency situation.

Appreciating the timely and responsible actions of driver Thanh, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tiep - Head of the Traffic Police Department, shared: "This is a special case that needs to be considered in the spirit of humanity and flexibility in law enforcement". In addition to not imposing a fine, the Traffic Police Department sent thanks to the driver for this noble gesture.
