Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Cao Binh, President of the Vietnam Association of Dentistry, believes that VIDEC 2025 will continue to be a solid academic foundation, connecting the scientific community, bringing colleagues rich experiences, inspiring innovation and promoting the enhancement of high-quality oral health care for the people.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc said that Vietnam is making efforts to narrow the gap in dental care, from urban to rural areas, from plains to mountainous areas and islands. Vietnam's goal is not only to reduce tooth decay, periodontitis or complicated complications, but also to ensure that all people have access to modern, equitable and safe dental services.
This reality requires the dental and maxillofacial industry to take strategic steps, keeping up with the development trend of science and technology, and at the same time meeting the requirements of increasingly deep international integration. More importantly, we must thoroughly grasp the spirit: shifting the focus from treatment to prevention, taking disease prevention as the root, taking primary care as the key.
In that spirit, the Deputy Minister requested the Vietnam Association of Dentistry, training and research institutions and specialized hospitals to focus on developing a comprehensive school dentistry program, protecting the young generation from preschool to primary school. This is not only a professional task, but also a strategic requirement to shift from treatment to prevention, so that oral care becomes a cultural habit, a healthy lifestyle of Vietnamese people.
In addition, priority is given to research and practical application, focusing on common diseases such as tooth decay, periodontitis, temporomandibular joint disorders. At the same time, in-depth development of implant techniques, orthopedic surgery and cosmetic restoration.
The dental industry focuses on training and developing high-quality human resources, especially the young generation of doctors and dentists; building a fair, modern and humane dental service system, ensuring that all people, from urban to rural areas, remote and isolated areas, can benefit from scientific advances.
"We need to encourage the development of private dental and maxillofacial health care in the spirit of Resolution No. 68 of the Politburo, considering this an important force in investing in equipment, deploying high technology and providing quality services. The companionship of the private sector, under the unified management of the State, will create a diverse, dynamic and sustainable dental ecosystem, contributing to reducing the burden on public health and expanding opportunities for dental care for the entire population," said the Deputy Minister.
