The Vietnamese women's team successfully defended their petanque world championship title after a 13-1 victory over Thailand in France, the home of petanque.

The Women's Petanque World Championship concluded on October 12 at the Douaisis Arena in Sin-le-Noble, northern France, with the Vietnamese team's convincing victory over Thailand in the final match.

According to a VNA reporter in Paris, the Vietnamese women's team - the reigning world champions, won an overwhelming 13-1 victory, thereby successfully defending their title.

Before that, the journey to the final of the Vietnamese girls was not easy, when they had to overcome the Belgian team with a difficult semi-final with a narrow score of 13-10. It was the Belgian team that eliminated one of the two teams from France - the homeland of petanque, in the quarter-finals.

According to French media, the atmosphere at the Douaisis stadium on October 12 was “filled with Asian colors,” as the other semi-final saw Thailand defeat Cambodia 13-4 to advance to the final.
