Vietnam tops Southeast Asia in Asian Informatics Olympiad

All 7 Vietnamese candidates won the Asian Informatics Olympiad, including 1 gold medal and 6 silver medals.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training , all Vietnamese candidates participating in the 2024 Asian Informatics Olympiad hosted by China won prizes. Including 1 gold medal and 6 silver medals. With this result, the Vietnamese team ranked 6th out of 35 teams from countries and territories. This result is much better than the achievement of 4 silver medals and 3 bronze medals in 2023. Of the 7 prize-winning candidates, 6 are from the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The remaining candidate is from Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong. The only candidate of the Vietnamese team to win a gold medal is Pham Cong Minh, a 12th grade student, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The 18th Asian Informatics Olympiad was attended by 35 delegations from countries and territories, with 286 candidates nominated for awards. For each exam, the Vietnamese student delegation had candidates achieving the maximum score. The Vietnamese national team participating in the competition consisted of 15 candidates, 7 candidates with the highest scores were considered for awards. The overall result of the whole delegation, the Vietnamese Informatics Olympiad team ranked 6th after the countries and territories: China, Russia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong (China) ... leading Southeast Asia.
