Southeast Asian newspaper comments on Asian futsal tournament with regional teams

(Dan Tri) - Southeast Asia currently has 4 representatives participating in the 2026 Asian Futsal Finals, including 3 teams that passed the qualifying round: Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. Regional media commented on this.

7 out of 8 groups of the 2026 Asian futsal qualifiers ended at dawn this morning (September 25, Vietnam time), only group D will take place in October.

Up to now, in addition to the host of the final round Indonesia, there are 3 other teams in Southeast Asia that have passed the qualifying round, including the futsal teams of Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. Regarding these results, the ASEAN Football website, which specializes in Southeast Asian football, analyzed: "Malaysia has officially secured a place in the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship, as one of the seven second-placed teams with the best results in the qualifying round."

“Meanwhile, the Myanmar futsal team is ranked 7th out of 8 second-placed teams. Myanmar will have to wait for the results of Group D to know their fate,” ASEAN Football added.

There are still two tickets missing for the final round, including one for the top team in Group D (including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Pakistan) and one for Myanmar or the second team in Group D”.

Meanwhile, Thailand's Siam Sport newspaper shared: "The Thai futsal team drew 2-2 with the Korean team to win the top spot in Group B, earning a ticket to the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship."

“The Thai futsal team earned 7 points after 3 matches and got a ticket straight to the final round. Meanwhile, the Korean futsal team only finished second in Group B. Korea advanced as one of the second-placed teams with the best results in the qualifying round,” is still the writing in Thailand’s leading sports daily.

The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship will take place from January 27 to February 7, 2026, in Indonesia. After four teams, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia, have secured their tickets, another Southeast Asian team, Myanmar, still has hope of qualifying for the finals.
