On May 20, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's "one China" policy, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated:
On the basis of firmly implementing the "one China" policy, recognizing Taiwan as an inseparable part of the territory China and Vietnam maintain and develop civil and non-governmental relations with Taiwan in the fields of economics , trade, investment, science and technology, culture, education, etc., and do not develop any state-level relations with Taiwan.

Vietnam respects the principle of non-interference in each other's internal affairs and believes that maintaining peace, stability and cooperation in the Taiwan Strait plays an important role for the region and the world.
