Within the framework of his working visit to the French Republic, on June 6, in Paris, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with President of the French Senate Gerard Larcher, met and worked with Vice President of the Senate, former Secretary of the French Communist Party Pierre Laurent.

At the meetings, Minister Bui Thanh Son thanked the leaders of the French Senate for taking the time to receive the delegation; affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing comprehensive relations with France, from government cooperation channels to cooperation between the National Assembly and the Party; suggested that the two countries continue to further promote friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields.
On this occasion, Minister Bui Thanh Son conveyed the greetings of President of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to President of the French Senate Gerard Larcher and emphasized the good results of the recent visit to Vietnam by the President of the French Senate.
Leaders of the French Senate welcomed the two countries' 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership; emphasized the closeness between the two peoples and believed that this visit to France by Minister Bui Thanh Son would contribute to bringing the Vietnam-France relations into depth and practicality.
Senate President Gerard Larcher highly appreciated the success of the 12th Conference of Cooperation between Vietnam-France localities recently in Vietnam, which is an important cooperation channel to enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The President of the French Senate hoped that the two sides would closely coordinate and effectively implement economic projects and expand cooperation in potential areas such as green transition and response to climate change.
France acknowledged Vietnam's proposal to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to work, study and live in France, contributing to promoting the role of a bridge between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, especially through the exchange of delegations at all levels, close coordination and mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums, promoting the activities of the two countries' Friendship Parliamentary Groups...; agreed to promote Vietnam-France economic cooperation, an important pillar in the strategic partnership and still has great potential for cooperation; continue to fully and effectively implement the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Leaders of the French Senate positively recognized Vietnam's proposal for early ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in order to maximize the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the field of investment; urge the European Commission (EC) to soon remove the EC's IUU yellow card warning for Vietnamese seafood products.
The two sides agreed to coordinate and organize activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France in the fields of culture, education, and healthcare.

The two sides agreed to continue working closely at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, ASEM, Francophone Community and promote ASEAN-EU cooperation; emphasized the importance of further tightening the cooperation framework between Vietnam and France in response to regional and global issues, especially in ensuring freedom, security and safety of navigation and aviation, maintaining peace and stability in the East Sea, and settling disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
