Continue writing the heroic history, worthy of Uncle Ho's soldiers

(VLO) As a part of the heroic Vietnam People's Army, over the past 79 years, the armed forces of Vinh Long province have achieved many feats and made great contributions to the cause of national liberation, building and firmly defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

Promoting the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the provincial military is absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the People, ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

Promoting tradition, the armed forces continue to write glorious history.

Heroic Tradition

Immediately after gaining power on August 25, 1945, the Uprising Committee appointed the establishment of the Military Command with comrade Tran Van Lon as commander.

The very next day (August 26, 1945), the first concentrated army unit of the province was established under the name of the Republican Guard, with an initial strength of about 400 people.

Since then, the People's Armed Forces have grown steadily, together with the People, overcoming two long-term resistance wars, creating resounding victories such as: Cau Ke campaign, battles of Bo Tram, Cau Vong, Cai Sao,...

After the complete liberation of the South, the provincial armed forces switched to carrying out two strategic tasks: building and defending the Fatherland. The number of units was reduced in the direction of reducing the number of standing troops and increasing the number of militia and self-defense forces.

Colonel Nguyen Quoc Dung, former Commander of the Provincial Military Command, recalled: In 1992, Vinh Long province was re-established, the Provincial Military Command was separated and at the same time the province's Battalion 857 was re-established. The armed forces of the entire province quickly stabilized their organization, built and trained the regular force, militia and reserve forces. Every year, they completed the task of building, training and practicing combat readiness exercises.

According to Colonel Nguyen Quoc Dung, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Military Region Command, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command have continuously overcome difficulties, focused on leading and directing the consolidation and improvement of all aspects of the provincial military to meet the requirements of new tasks.

At the same time, proactively advise the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee to link socio -economic development with national defense and security in the defense area.

Effectively implement projects and plans to ensure national defense tasks are close to each sector, create high unity in awareness of responsibility, build political-spiritual potential, and military potential in the defense area to be increasingly effective.

Military agencies at all levels are basically built, ensuring the lives and activities of the armed forces, ready to fight in all situations, building an increasingly solid national defense-security posture and a posture of people's hearts.

Complete all tasks excellently

Promoting the tradition of "Loyalty, solidarity, persistence, bravery, victory", generations of cadres and soldiers constantly strive to build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and gradually modernized armed force.

Over the years, the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command have always thoroughly grasped and seriously and effectively implemented the directive documents of the Party and State, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and Military Region 9 on military and defense work.

The provincial armed forces have performed well their advisory role to local Party committees and authorities in leading and directing the implementation of local military and defense tasks, building an all-people national defense associated with the people's security posture and building an increasingly solid provincial defense zone. National defense potential has been enhanced, and the overall strength and combat readiness of the armed forces have been improved.

At the same time, it affirms the position, role and responsibility of the People's Armed Forces in the task of protecting the Party, government and people, contributing to maintaining political security, social order and safety, creating a stable environment for local socio-economic development.

Besides, building a clean and strong Party organization, strong agencies and units in all aspects, doing well in mass mobilization and policy work in the new situation.

In 2024, the provincial military will continue to innovate and make breakthroughs in training tasks according to the Resolution of the Central Military Commission, the Party Committee of Military Region 9, and the Provincial Military Party Committee on improving training quality for the 2023-2030 period and the following years.

Training closely follows the mission, target, area, plan and combat reality, focusing on practice. Strengthen training and joint exercises with forces standing guard in the area and in the defense zone.

Colonel Tran Minh Trang - Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command, added that the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command always pay attention to and well implement the Resolution of the Party Central Committee on "Strategy for protecting the Fatherland in the new situation".

The military promptly and effectively advises Party committees and authorities at all levels in developing and implementing programs to coordinate the implementation of policies on ethnicity, religion, social security, gratitude, and military rear areas.

Imbued with the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh: "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation", the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command launched the Emulation movement to win, closely following political tasks, closely linked with the local patriotic emulation movement, major movements and campaigns of the Party, State and army.

Through the emulation movement, the armed forces will successfully complete their tasks of training, combat readiness, building discipline, logistics, engineering, finance, etc. Closely combine the Emulation movement to win with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style and the Campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of being Uncle Ho's soldiers".

It can be said that, regardless of conditions and circumstances, the Vinh Long Provincial Armed Forces always have a strong political stance and are steadfast in the Party's goals and ideals.

The People's Armed Forces always preserve and promote the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", worthy of being the core force in protecting the Party, State, socialist regime and People, ready to receive and excellently complete all assigned tasks.
