Vietcombank introduces Apple Pay to its customers, a safer, more secure, and more private payment method with iPhone, Apple Watch, and Mac. Security and privacy are top priorities, while still allowing for faster and more convenient transactions.

Vietcombank (Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank) today officially introduced Apple Pay to Visa cardholders, a safer, more secure, and private payment method that helps customers avoid handing over their payment cards to others, touching physical payment buttons, or exchanging cash — and uses their iPhone to protect all transactions.

Apple Watch requires an iPhone 6 or later running iOS 12.5.2 or higher. Apple Watch Series 4 or later can be used with watchOS 9 or later. The Apple Watch must be paired with an iPhone 8 or later. To use it, customers simply double-tap and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near the payment gateway to make a contactless payment.1 Every transaction with Apple Pay is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or the device's passcode, along with a one-time dynamic security code. Apple Pay is accepted at convenience stores, pharmacies, taxi companies, restaurants, cafes, retail stores, and many other places.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Deputy General Director of Vietcombank, shared: “While the banking industry is moving towards digitalization and constant innovation, today we are delighted to introduce Apple Pay to millions of Vietcombank customers and provide them with an easy, safe, and secure payment method using their Apple devices in stores, in the app, and online.”

Customers can also use Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac to make in-app purchases more quickly and conveniently, or transact on the web via Safari without having to create an account or repeatedly enter shipping and payment information. Apple Pay makes paying for food delivery and groceries, online shopping, shipping, travel , and many other services easier. Apple Pay can also be used to make payments within apps on the Apple Watch.

Security and privacy are top priorities for Apple Pay. When customers use a credit or debit card on Apple Pay, the actual card number is not stored on the device or on Apple's servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in a Secure Element, a standard chip designed to securely store payment information on electronic devices.

Setting up Apple Pay is very simple. On your iPhone, just open the Wallet app, tap the plus sign (+), and follow the instructions to add your Vietcombank credit or debit card. Customers can also add their Vietcombank credit or debit card to Apple Pay from the VCB Digibank app.

In addition, customers can also apply for a debit card online through the VCB Digibank app; the card will be issued immediately and added to Apple Pay.

After adding the card to their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac, customers can start using Apple Pay on those devices immediately. Customers will continue to receive all the reward points and benefits offered by Vietcombank cards. This includes benefits such as VCB reward point accumulation, unlimited cashback, pay-later spending with interest-free periods of up to 55 days, as well as access to promotions at hotels, restaurants, shopping stores, and airline tickets…
