Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong and Qazaq Air CEO Adilbek Umraliyev exchanged cooperation agreements in the presence of General Secretary To Lam, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.
At the event, the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance awarded an overseas investment certificate to Aviation Holdings, a subsidiary of Vietjet, to facilitate the strategic share purchase of Qazaq Air. This is part of Vietjet's international expansion strategy, contributing to strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and Kazakhstan in aviation, economic, and cultural cooperation in general, while also opening a new chapter for the Central Asian aviation industry.
According to the cooperation agreement, the two parties will jointly develop and operate Vietjet Qazaqstan, formerly known as Qazaq Air.
Vietjet Qazaqstan is a new-generation, low-cost airline expected to become a strategic air link between Kazakhstan and Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and international aviation hubs. The airline will serve the growing travel needs of the Kazakh people, thereby promoting tourism, trade, and logistics across Asia, while contributing to local socio -economic development with thousands of high-quality jobs.
Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong, Qazaq Air Chairman Andrew Cowen, and Aysem Sargin, Boeing's Managing Director for Turkey and Central Asia, exchanged a framework agreement on technical support for the future Boeing 737 fleet.
Also at the event, Vietjet Qazaqstan and Boeing Corporation signed a framework agreement on technical support for Vietjet Qazaqstan's Boeing 737 fleet. Specifically, Boeing will provide comprehensive support ranging from supplying technical software and spare parts, training pilots and engineers, to aircraft maintenance and upgrades to ensure the fleet operates efficiently and safely.
Vietjet Qazaqstan plans to operate at least 20 Boeing 737 aircraft, significantly expanding its domestic and international flight network. The airline will adopt a modern operating model, digital management, and an advanced personnel training system with technical and operational support from Vietjet.
With its experience in modern aviation operations, advanced technology, and global partner network, Vietjet's investment in Kazakhstan represents a pioneering role for the Vietnamese corporation in promoting multilateral cooperation, technology transfer, human resource training support, infrastructure modernization, and enhancing the competitiveness of the regional aviation industry. This cooperation model not only brings economic benefits but also serves national interests, strengthens regional connectivity, and contributes to shared prosperity.
