Viettel increases fiber optic internet service bandwidth by up to 50%.

In October 2024, Viettel implemented a 50% increase in bandwidth for existing fiber optic internet customers at no extra cost. This marks the fourth time the network provider has offered free bandwidth upgrades to customers since 2019.

Specifically, customers using 80Mbps-100Mbps bandwidth packages will be upgraded to 150Mbps; those using 120Mbps-180Mbps will be upgraded by 1.5 times respectively. Customers using bandwidth of >=200Mbps will have unlimited access (up to 1Gbps) with a minimum commitment of 300Mbps-400Mbps depending on their package.

This upgrade is performed automatically by Viettel; customers do not need to restart their devices at home.

A representative from Viettel stated that by the end of November or beginning of December 2024, Viettel will upgrade bandwidth for all customers. Users can easily check their current bandwidth by accessing the MyViettel application (https://viettel.vn/ttgc).

This is Viettel's fourth bandwidth upgrade in the last five years and brings many benefits to users, such as: meeting the needs of bandwidth-intensive services like 4K/8K television; experiencing augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) content, and smart home IoT services...

Viettel's actions are also in line with the Prime Minister's orientation on digital infrastructure for the period 2025-2030 (by 2025, 90% of users will be able to access fixed Internet with an average speed of 200 Mbps, 90% of socio -economic organizations will be able to access Internet with an average speed of 1 Gbps, and aiming for 100% of users to be able to access at speeds above 1 Gbps by 2030), and contribute to improving Vietnam's ranking on the regional Internet map.

According to statistics from Speedtest Intelligence, by the end of September 2024, the average internet download speed in Vietnam reached 153.3 Mbps (ranked 32nd in the world ; an improvement of 11 places compared to the beginning of the year); of which, Viettel had the highest speed (153.7 Mbps).
