Viettel Telecom received the First Class Labor Medal

(Dan Tri) - On October 16 in Hanoi, Viettel Telecommunications Corporation held a ceremony to receive the First Class Labor Medal and celebrate the 25th anniversary of its traditional day (October 15, 2000 - October 15, 2025).

This is a noble award from the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, recognizing the outstanding contributions of generations of officers and employees of Viettel Telecom Corporation (Viettel Telecom) over 25 years of development.

In 25 years of development, Viettel Telecom has become the largest telecommunications enterprise in Vietnam, serving about 70 million customers, of which more than 10 million are 5G network users. The unit's cumulative revenue has exceeded 1 quadrillion VND, and it is also among the group of enterprises contributing the largest income tax in the country.

Since 2004, Viettel Telecom has been one of the enterprises contributing to expanding access to mobile telecommunications services, when the rate of people using the service increased from about 5% to more than 100% after 5 years.

Currently, the company's fiber optic internet network has connected to nearly 10 million households, including many remote areas, supporting the national digital transformation process.

In parallel with business activities, Viettel Telecom maintains many social programs, including “Heart for Children”, “For Students Who Love to Study”, “Breeding Cows to Help the Poor in Border Areas” and programs to support free Internet infrastructure for more than 39,000 schools nationwide. The total support budget from these programs amounts to thousands of billions of VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Trung Thanh, General Director of Viettel Telecom, said that the enterprise is accelerating the transition from Telco to global Techco, aiming for service revenue of VND115,000 billion by 2030, with the proportion of non-telecommunications service revenue accounting for at least 20%.

Attending the ceremony, Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang - Chairman and General Director of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group affirmed that Viettel Telecom is "a symbol of Viettel's culture and spirit - always shining in all challenges", and believed that the strategy of transforming into a global Techco will help Viettel continue to play a leading role in the new technology era.
