Vinh Long approves detailed plan for reorganizing departments.

Kinhtedothi - On February 17, the Vinh Long Provincial People's Council held its 6th special session, 10th term, 2021-2026.

Based on thorough research of the documents and materials presented at the session, the delegates discussed and contributed many heartfelt and responsible opinions, offering numerous solutions, analyses, and assessments of several key issues of high quality.

At the session, the delegates of the Vinh Long Provincial People's Council approved a Resolution on reorganizing specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee. According to the newly approved resolution, the Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee will reorganize its departments and related units in a streamlined manner.

Specifically, the Department of Internal Affairs will be reorganized by merging the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Department of Internal Affairs. The Department of Construction will be reorganized by merging the Department of Transport and the Department of Construction; and the functions and responsibilities of state management regarding the examination and issuance of driver's licenses for motor vehicles will be transferred from the Department of Transport to the Provincial Police.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism was reorganized, taking over the functions, tasks, and organizational structure for managing press and publishing from the Department of Information and Communications.

The Department of Health was reorganized, taking over the functions, tasks, and state management apparatus for social protection, children, and prevention and control of social evils from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. The Department of Industry and Trade was reorganized, taking over the Market Management Department from the Ministry of Industry and Trade .

The Department of Education and Training will be reorganized, taking over the functions, tasks, and organizational structure for advising on state management of vocational education from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; and taking over the existing Vocational Education and Continuing Education Centers from the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities.

The Department of Finance will be reorganized by merging the Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Finance. The Department of Science and Technology will be reorganized by merging the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Science and Technology; the functions, tasks, and organizational structure for managing press and publishing will be transferred from the Department of Information and Communications to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment was reorganized by merging the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and taking over the state management responsibilities for poverty reduction from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs was established on the basis of the Ethnic Affairs Committee, receiving the functions, tasks, and organizational structure of state management of religion from the Department of Interior; supplementing and improving the functions and tasks of state management of ethnic affairs.
