VNPT and Vietnam Airlines implement strategic cooperation program, launch VNA Discovery application

The combination of providing Internet connection services on board between Vietnam Airlines and VNPT will help attract potential customers and enhance the experience when passengers are connected to the Internet on all domestic and international flights.

On March 22, in Hanoi, a ceremony was held to conclude and launch the strategic cooperation program between Vietnam Airlines Corporation and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ).

At the ceremony, the two sides also officially launched the VNA Discovery app - an application that integrates functional subsystems to support information exchange, operations, communications and management of all administrative, human resources and process activities of Vietnam Airlines.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa emphasized: the effective cooperation between the two leading corporations and groups under the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises will help Vietnam Airlines soon achieve the goal of becoming the leading digital technology airline in the region. This is a solid foundation for Vietnam Airlines and VNPT to continue to discuss and propose cooperation content for the next phase 2024-2027.

After 5 years of actively coordinating to implement strategic cooperation, the two sides have overcome difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic. Vietnam Airlines and VNPT have worked together in many activities applying information technology to communications, production and business activities and achieved positive results contributing to promoting sustainable development of both sides such as: implementing human resource management projects - SkyHR, electronic office solutions - SkyOffice, electronic payments via VNPT Money... VNPT also actively consulted on digital transformation for Vietnam Airlines with a number of solutions such as: eKYC, HRM, iOffice, SSO, Cloud... In particular, from the end of 2023 to now, VNPT has worked with VNA to pilot the Mobile App VNA Discovery for Vietnam Airlines staff.

VNA Discovery is a mobile application that integrates business subsystems, supports information exchange, operations, communications, and administrative and human resources activities of Vietnam Airlines to improve operational efficiency, management and competitiveness, support staff with additional methods of handling work on mobile, contribute to optimizing operational efficiency, information exchange and processing, and enhance user experience.

VNA Discovery contributes to the synchronization of applications in the VNA ecosystem into a single application with main functions such as: SkyOffice management allows users to view information on daily meeting schedules, work processing status, view and process documents right on mobile devices. In particular, this application is integrated with Smart CA digital signature software, helping employees sign documents anytime, anywhere.

The Sky HR subsystem integrates a number of features related to human resource management, allowing employees to look up personal information; view, manage and track personal income effectively; register and manage leave periods, creating flexibility in the work schedule of Vietnam Airlines staff... VNA Discovery will continue to be upgraded and expanded, providing smart reports on operational activities, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the management efficiency of leaders and bring many practical utilities to all Vietnam Airlines employees.

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in providing in-flight Internet services between Vietnam Airlines and VNPT took place on March 22 in Hanoi.

Also at the ceremony, VNPT and Vietnam Airlines signed a cooperation agreement to provide Internet connection services on aircraft. Currently, Vietnam Airlines is the first airline in Vietnam to grasp the digital technology trend in the world aviation industry to provide Internet connection services on aircraft. The combination of providing Internet connection services on aircraft between Vietnam Airlines and VNPT will help attract potential customers, enhance the experience when passengers are connected to the Internet on all domestic and international flights.
Passengers will have a more pleasant long flight if they can text friends, watch movies, listen to podcasts or read books. Having internet access during the flight has reduced the symptoms of aerophobia for many passengers and the internet is also useful for those who need to work during the flight.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of VNPT To Dung Thai expressed his hope that in the coming time, Vietnam Airlines and VNPT will continue to take advantage of the capacity and strengths of both sides, combine to exploit common products and services, incentive programs, increase customer experience... bringing many benefits to each other's staff and customers to promote the cooperative relationship to a new level. The two sides will cooperate to deploy telecommunications and information technology services to improve the experience for passengers on Vietnam Airlines flights. The two sides will jointly research and agree on a plan to deploy a shared data warehouse Data Lake House, a strategy to transition to the Cloud platform and Cloud applications, improve digital infrastructure capacity in information security, security...
