Volkswagen Golf: 6 versions including eTSI, GTI, and R Performance

Volkswagen introduced the Golf in Ho Chi Minh City with 6 versions: eTSI, GTI, and R Performance, priced from 798 million to 1.898 billion VND. Imported from Wolfsburg (Germany), the car boasts a top performance of 320 horsepower and a top speed of 270 km/h.

On the morning of October 31st, Volkswagen introduced the Golf at the Volkswagen Experience Day event in Ho Chi Minh City, offering six versions: 1.5 eTSI Life, 1.5 eTSI Style, 1.5 eTSI R-Line, 2.0 TSI GTI Lite, 2.0 TSI GTI Performance, and R Performance 4Motion. Prices range from 798 million to 1.898 billion VND. All vehicles are manufactured at the Wolfsburg plant in Germany.

eTSI 48V: Focus on energy efficiency for urban areas

The three 1.5 eTSI versions use a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine combined with a 48V mild hybrid system, delivering 148 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. According to Volkswagen, this mild hybrid technology helps save up to 10% on fuel.

The exterior features retain the familiar hatchback styling but emphasize a sportier feel: IQ.Light Matrix LED headlights, R-Line front and rear bumpers, a rear spoiler, and enhanced taillights. The 1.5 eTSI Life version comes with 17-inch wheels; the 1.5 eTSI Style and 1.5 eTSI R-Line versions use 18-inch Bergamo wheels. Prices are VND 798 million, VND 898 million, and VND 998 million respectively.

Golf GTI: 242 horsepower, top speed 250 km/h

Both the 2.0 TSI GTI Lite and 2.0 TSI GTI Performance versions use a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged engine, producing 242 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission; their top speed is 250 km/h.

The GTI's distinguishing features include a sporty front bumper, 'X'-shaped fog lights, a honeycomb grille, and the GTI logo. The GTI Lite uses 18-inch Richmond wheels; the GTI Performance uses 19-inch Adelaide wheels. The interior features a newly designed center console, a digital instrument panel, 30-color ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and a 3-zone automatic climate control system. Price: VND 1.288 billion (GTI Lite) and VND 1.468 billion (GTI Performance).

Golf R Performance 4Motion: 320 horsepower, 270 km/h

The top-of-the-line R Performance 4Motion version is equipped with a 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine producing a maximum power of 320 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, a 7-speed DSG transmission, all-wheel drive, and a high-performance braking system. The top speed is 270 km/h. The price is 1.898 billion VND.

The Volkswagen Golf enters the C-segment hatchback market in Vietnam, currently facing very few direct competitors; its main competitor is the Mazda3 Sport (659–719 million VND).
