Volkswagen introduced Golf in Ho Chi Minh City with 6 versions eTSI, GTI and R Performance, priced from 798 million to 1.898 billion VND. The car is imported from Wolfsburg (Germany), with the highest performance of 320 horsepower, maximum speed of 270 km/h.

On the morning of October 31, Volkswagen introduced the Golf at the Volkswagen Experience Day event in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing 6 versions including 1.5 eTSI Life, 1.5 eTSI Style, 1.5 eTSI R-Line, 2.0 TSI GTI Lite, 2.0 TSI GTI Performance and R Performance 4Motion. The selling price ranges from 798 million to 1.898 billion VND. All cars are manufactured at the Wolfsburg factory (Germany).

eTSI 48V: urban energy efficiency focus

The three 1.5 eTSI versions use a 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, combined with a 48V mild hybrid system for 148 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, combined with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. According to Volkswagen, this mild hybrid technology helps save up to 10% fuel.

The exterior features the familiar hatchback design but emphasizes sportiness : IQ.Light Matrix LED headlights, R-Line front/rear bumpers, spoiler, and enhanced rear lights. 17-inch wheels for the 1.5 eTSI Life version; the 1.5 eTSI Style and 1.5 eTSI R-Line versions use 18-inch Bergamo wheels. Prices are 798 million, 898 million, and 998 million VND respectively.

Golf GTI: 242 horsepower, maximum 250 km/h

The two versions 2.0 TSI GTI Lite and 2.0 TSI GTI Performance use a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged engine, 242 horsepower, 370 Nm torque, 7-speed DSG gearbox; maximum speed 250 km/h.

The GTI's identity includes a sporty front bumper, 'X'-shaped fog lights, a honeycomb grille, and a GTI logo. The GTI Lite uses 18-inch Richmond wheels; the GTI Performance uses 19-inch Adelaide wheels. The interior features a newly designed central display, a digital dashboard, 30-color ambient lighting, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and 3-zone automatic air conditioning. Price: VND 1,288 billion (GTI Lite) and VND 1,468 billion (GTI Performance).

Golf R Performance 4Motion: 320 horsepower, 270 km/h

The highest version R Performance 4Motion is equipped with a 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine for a maximum capacity of 320 horsepower, 420 Nm of torque, a 7-speed DSG gearbox, full-time four-wheel drive and a high-performance braking system. Maximum speed of 270 km/h. Selling price of 1.898 billion VND.

Volkswagen Golf participates in the C-size hatchback segment in Vietnam, currently there are almost no direct competitors; the main selling model is Mazda3 Sport (659-719 million VND). With high performance, the GTI and especially R Performance 4Motion versions can compete with Honda Civic TypeR (2.4 billion VND), however, Honda has announced that this model will be discontinued.
