After an unsatisfactory opening round with 74 strokes (+3), Nguyen Anh Minh dropped to 114th place, facing the risk of being eliminated. However, on the second day of competition, the golfer born in 2007 demonstrated his mettle and class as the number 1 young golfer in Vietnam.
On the challenging Trinity Forest Golf Club course, Anh Minh played brilliantly with 6 birdies and only 1 bogey, thereby completing round 2 with 66 strokes (-5), one of the two best scores of the day.
A total score of -1 after 36 holes helped Anh Minh jump more than 100 places to T13 and confidently advance to the match play round. This is the second consecutive time Nguyen Anh Minh has made the cut at the US Junior Amateur. Last season, Anh Minh excelled in reaching the quarterfinals for the top 8 golfers.
Meanwhile, Ho Anh Huy, another representative of Vietnamese young golf, also had an emotional second round. After 14 holes, Anh Huy had 4 bogeys and was at risk of having to stop playing.
But at the decisive moment, this golfer scored a birdie at hole 18, closing the round with 73 strokes. With a total score of +3 after 2 rounds, Anh Huy had just enough points to pass the cut, continuing his journey in the tournament.

A notable figure, Charlie Woods (son of the legendary Tiger Woods) failed to make the cut with a total score of +14 after 2 rounds of stroke play, at the prestigious amateur tournament where his father had won many times.
The 2025 US Junior Amateur will take place from July 21 to 26 at Trinity Forest Golf Club (Texas, USA), bringing together 256 golfers from 32 countries (including the host country, the US) to compete. After 2 rounds of intense stroke play, the 64 golfers with the best results will enter the knockout round to find the champion.
In the round of 32 today, Anh Minh will compete at 1:10 p.m. (US time), facing Nicholas Brooks (US). Before that, Ho Anh Huy will take the field at 10 a.m. (US time), facing another home golfer, Stuart Boulware.
The US Junior Amateur was founded in 1948 and is the premier golf tournament for the world's best young talents. The tournament has seen many champions who later became superstars or big names such as Tiger Woods (15 majors in a record 82 PGA Tour cups), Jordan Spieth (three majors in 13 PGA Tour cups), and world number one Scottie Scheffler, who just won The Open 2025.
The prize for this year's champion, in addition to the Cup and medal from the USGA, is a qualifying exemption at the next US Junior Amateur; a special entry to the 2025 and 2026 US Amateur; and an invitation to the 2026 US Open (as an amateur).
