Quang Nam team is still 'collecting' money
This is a necessary move after Quang Nam team has not officially announced its existence in the new season. The above move takes place in the context of the VFF Executive Committee's direction that if Quang Nam team requests to withdraw, VPF has the right to promote Binh Phuoc team to replace them.
However, Binh Phuoc FC – the runner-up of the 2024–2025 first division – is still not fully ready for promotion to the V-League. This causes the tournament organizers to face many challenges in ensuring the number of participating teams and maintaining the quality of the tournament.

After a turbulent season, Quang Nam FC successfully stayed in the league but fell into a new difficult situation after Da Nang and Quang Nam merged. The team lacked financial and organizational stability. Despite being a team that won the V-League championship (in 2017), Quang Nam now has almost no resources to continue maintaining its squad in the country's highest professional league.
In the past few days, the Quang Nam team and the management unit have been trying to “collect money” but up to this point, everything is still quite vague. Although there is information that a sponsor is ready to spend nearly 100 billion VND to support the team. But this number is not enough. About 20 billion VND more is needed.
100 billion to 'rescue' Quang Nam Club: Almost impossible, VFF has an alternative plan
The meeting on July 25 is considered the last effort from VPF to verify the actual situation from the representative of the Quang Nam team.
According to current regulations, if a team withdraws from the V-League, the replacement slot will be given to the second-placed team in the first division – Binh Phuoc Club. However, the problem is that the Southeast team may not be ready for the big stage. The possibility that this team will voluntarily refuse the promotion slot has been raised, forcing the VFF and VPF to consider backup plans, including inviting the third-placed team, PVF-CAND, or organizing the V-League next season with only 13 teams.
V-League future remains open
The withdrawal of a professional football team right before the new season is a worrying thing for Vietnamese football. If Quang Nam officially says goodbye to V-League, and Binh Phuoc cannot or does not want to be promoted, the tournament's organizers will have to find a solution as directed by VFF. With not much time left, the relevant parties are forced to quickly make a decision. In particular, the factors of transparency, correct procedures and compliance with club licensing criteria must be put first to ensure fairness and sustainable development for Vietnamese professional football.
