Previously, on September 27th, Mu Cang Chai district (Yen Bai province) established an inspection team to verify the incident based on a VTV news report about students at Mang Mu school, Mo De Kindergarten, only eating rice with ginger and salt.
According to a report from the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district, the inspection team met directly with the leaders of Mo De commune; the leaders and teachers of Mo De Kindergarten; the Party Secretary of Mang Mu village; and some parents of students in Mang Mu village to verify and gather information.
Mr. Hờ A Dê, the parent featured in the report, said: "To get my child to school on time, I was in such a hurry that I didn't have time to prepare extra eggs for my child to take to school. Also, after talking and sharing, and partly at the reporter's suggestion, I mentioned that about my child bringing a packed lunch to school."
Teacher Nguyen Thi Yen (the teacher featured in the report) shared: "After talking and sharing for over an hour with the reporter, and talking about the difficulties and hardships, like when students used to bring packed lunches with rice, vegetables, and ginger to school, I couldn't hold back my emotions and ended up speaking and crying like that."
"In accordance with the policy, the school organizes lunch for the children at the main campus and satellite locations. The children's entitlements are paid directly to their parents once approved and funded."
Specifically, the Màng Mủ school, due to its temporary kitchen, only prepares meals twice a day, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at a cost of 10,000 VND per meal per child (parents contribute food equivalent to 10,000 VND). On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, when students bring packed lunches, the school has informed parents and appealed for social contributions to prepare additional hot soup to supplement the children's meals. Therefore, on September 23, 2024 (Monday), when the VTV news team visited the school to film a report, the school organized the cooking of hot soup for the children using resources provided by the teachers.
"Through verification and practical experience at educational institutions, it has been found that the content of VTV1's '24h News' report on the children's lunch at the Mang Mu branch of Mo De Kindergarten does not fully reflect the reality at the school," the report from the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district stated.
