Highlands shaping the future

The judging panel of the Tan Son Commune Youth and Children's Innovation Competition 2026 evaluated and scored the participating projects.

Resolution to create a breakthrough

Following the administrative merger, Tan Son commune covers an area of over 118 square kilometers and has a population of over 18,000 people. The area is primarily mountainous, with ethnic minorities accounting for over 86% of the population, and the people still face many difficulties. With a long-term strategic vision, the Party Committee and the commune government have determined that for sustainable development in the highlands, investment in human resources is paramount. Along with implementing economic development programs, creating livelihoods, and improving infrastructure, Tan Son places special emphasis on improving the quality of education and training, building a generation of highland citizens with knowledge, skills, and aspirations to contribute to building a more prosperous and beautiful homeland.

Immediately after the first Party Congress of the commune, term 2025-2030, the Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee issued Resolution No. 55-NQ/DU on improving the quality of education in the period 2025-2030. Comrade Ha Thanh Ngu - Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee affirmed: “Education is a top national priority, the future of the nation. Thoroughly understanding the Party and State's policies and concretizing Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW dated August 22, 2025, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, we have identified improving the quality of education as a central and ongoing task of the entire political system; determined to build a comprehensive, equitable, and progressively modern educational environment that meets the development requirements in the new situation...”.

To ensure the resolution is quickly implemented, the People's Committee of Tan Son commune has developed an implementation plan with many specific goals: maintaining and improving the quality of universal education ; ensuring 100% of schools meet national standards; gradually eliminating small, isolated schools; increasing the percentage of students entering public high schools; focusing on digital transformation, modernizing infrastructure, and improving the overall quality of education. These goals are not only tasks but also represent the political determination, belief, and expectations of the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Tan Son commune for a new future for the highlands – where children can study in increasingly better conditions and have the opportunity to rise up through knowledge to change their lives.

Highlands shaping the future

Ms. Tran Khanh Ngoc, a Literature teacher at Tan Son Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, always strives to be creative and innovative in her teaching methods, improving the quality of education.

Knowledge takes root in the highlands.

More than a month has passed, but recalling the moment she was honored at the Provincial Excellent Junior High School Teacher Competition for the 2025-2026 school year, Ms. Tran Khanh Ngoc, a Literature teacher at Tan Son Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, still cannot hide her joy and pride. “Being selected to participate in the competition made me both happy and pressured, because teaching and learning conditions in this mountainous area are more difficult than in more developed regions. Winning second prize has given me more confidence to continue striving and dedicating myself to the profession…,” Ms. Ngoc shared.

The joy of the young teacher is also the shared pride of the entire school. Mr. Nguyen Duc Thinh, Party Secretary and Principal of the school, said: "The majority of students are from ethnic minority groups, living in particularly difficult villages, so their learning conditions are limited. However, with the sense of responsibility and dedication of the staff and teachers, the school has continuously innovated its management and teaching methods, improving the overall quality of education. In the 2025-2026 school year, the school won many awards in cultural competitions at the commune and provincial levels; won second prize in the provincial-level competition for excellent secondary school teachers and second prize in the provincial-level science and technology research competition."

Along with Tan Son Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, the quality of education throughout the commune has seen significant improvements in recent years. Currently, the commune has 10 schools with 157 classes; 100% of schools meet national standards, including 2 schools that meet level 2 standards. From classes facing many difficulties, Tan Son students are gradually demonstrating their abilities in intellectual competitions. In the 2025-2026 school year, Tan Son students won 31 awards for outstanding 9th-grade students at the provincial level; many high awards in IOE, Vietnamese Language Champion, and Violympic Math competitions on the Internet. In particular, in national-level intellectual competitions, students from the mountainous region of Tan Son have proven their abilities are not inferior to students from the lowlands with 1 Encouragement Award in the IOE English Olympiad on the Internet; 12 awards in the Violympic Math competition on the Internet, including 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medal...

The above results not only reflect the efforts of the education sector, but also show the initial effectiveness of the synchronized involvement of the entire political system in caring for the cause of "nurturing human resources." Mr. Nguyen Tien Nhu Khoa - Vice Chairman of Tan Son Commune People's Committee said: Although the time has not been long, Resolution No. 55-NQ/DU on improving the quality of education in Tan Son commune in the period 2025 - 2030 has truly come into life, initially showing positive results. In the coming time, the locality will continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness of the whole society about the role of education; focus on building a team of dedicated and creative teachers; increase investment in infrastructure, promote digital transformation; improve the quality of comprehensive education associated with moral education, life skills, career guidance and entrepreneurship for students. Along with that, the commune will continue to promote the role of families, schools and society in caring for the cause of education; Promoting the movement to encourage learning and talent development, building a learning society, and creating momentum to spread the movement of good teaching and good learning.

From classrooms nestled in the mountains, from the eager eyes of Muong and Dao ethnic minority students, from the dedication of young teachers who tirelessly work in the remote villages, a new future is gradually taking shape in the challenging Tan Son region. On the journey of transformation in the Tan Son highlands today, these brightly lit classrooms amidst the mountains and forests are not only imparting knowledge but also igniting hope for a sustainable future, where knowledge becomes the driving force for the people to confidently rise up using their own inner strength.
