With an age of 30 - 50 years, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh's laurel garden ( Can Tho City) is shaped into a unique ancient bonsai shape with a total estimated value of over 1.5 billion VND. Many people have expressed interest in buying it but it is not for sale.
With a passion for bonsai since his youth, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh (76 years old, Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city) currently owns more than 1,000 bonsai trees of many different varieties and types such as yellow apricot, water apricot, laurel, pine, star fruit...
Mr. Danh said that most of the trees in the garden were planted by him since they were young and he takes care of them carefully every day, from pruning, cleaning the roots, shaping them to making them bloom. Some trees take decades to shape into ancient bonsai shapes to become masterpieces.

Currently, Mr. Danh earns tens of millions of dong each month from selling bonsai and ornamental plants. Especially during Tet, his income is even higher, because the number of customers coming to the garden to buy ornamental plants increases two or three times compared to normal days.
In particular, there is one type of tree that many people have expressed interest in buying, but Mr. Danh has no intention of selling. Those are 15 laurel trees that he planted, shaped and shaped into an ancient bonsai style, valued at over 100 million VND each, with a total estimated value of over 1.5 billion VND.

“The reason these laurel trees are worth hundreds of millions is because each tree has a “huge” size, more than 3m high, large and beautiful width; ancient bonsai shape, straight shape, one trunk and one column; bi-lateral, tetrahedral branches; and an age of 30 to 50 years,” said Mr. Danh.

Mr. Danh shared that his professional experience has been accumulated over the years. Accordingly, he has researched and learned how to fix bonsai, and participated in bonsai courses organized by Can Tho University. After many years of effort and perseverance, he has now created this masterpiece garden.
According to Mr. Danh, bonsai players only need a few weeks or months to create a beautiful shape for the tree without having to spend too much time taking care of it.
But with this ancient style of creating laurel trees, the player must be patient and have a lot of technical knowledge, because each year only one branch can be completed, so it takes decades to create the desired ancient bonsai shape for the tree.
Thanks to the unique features of the laurel trees, Mr. Danh's garden has become more diverse, unique and well-known. Many people have come to him to explore the garden as well as learn about the care and shaping of ancient bonsai.
