According to Neowin , Windows 11, upon its release, introduced redesigned context menus (right-click menus) to provide users with a simpler and more modern interface. However, customers quickly discovered that these changes left many drawbacks. Many users expressed dissatisfaction with the slow performance of the new menus. Others found the two-tiered design cumbersome, where many familiar options were annoyingly hidden behind a 'Show more options' button. Furthermore, over the years of development, these menus have become increasingly cluttered and overloaded.
Microsoft has confirmed modifications to the Windows 11 right-click menu.
While Microsoft has gradually fixed many of the major issues across Windows 11, these context menus have largely remained neglected and unchanged for a long time. Now, Microsoft is finally listening to user feedback. Marcus Ash, head of Windows design and research at Microsoft, has officially responded to a social media post on X, confirming that the company is working to thoroughly fix Windows 11's context menus.

A simplified Windows 11 right-click menu, similar to Windows 10, has been implemented.
According to the announcement, these redesigned context menus are expected to be faster, simpler by default, and especially "configurable to what users use most often." While the exact meaning of this configurability remains unclear, similar to whether Microsoft will continue to retain the classic menu alongside the modern one, a Microsoft representative said users' wait is nearing its end, promising to share the company's approach soon.
These improved context menus will most likely appear first in preview builds of Windows 11 in the Experimental testing channel, which are typically released every Friday. In the meantime, users can also try cleaning up and speeding up menus on their PCs using a third-party tool called Windows 11 Context Menu Manager.
Overall, Microsoft's decision to improve the right-click menu after successfully optimizing the Start menu and taskbar is very welcome news for the tech community. This move demonstrates that the company is genuinely listening to customer criticism to improve the operating system.
