Hoa Minh commune aims to achieve a shrimp production of 5,836 tons in 2026.

On the morning of April 24th, Hoa Minh commune held a conference to summarize aquaculture activities in 2025 and implement the plan for 2026.

In 2025, the commune's aquaculture sector continued to achieve many positive results, with a total aquatic product output of over 7,159 tons, exceeding the plan by 107% and increasing compared to the same period. Of this, aquaculture production accounted for over 6,282 tons, with key species such as whiteleg shrimp, tiger shrimp, sea crabs, and freshwater prawns all showing growth. Whiteleg shrimp continued to be the main product, contributing the largest share to the total output. However, during the year, 64 shrimp farming households in the commune suffered losses due to dangerous diseases such as white spot disease and hepatopancreatic necrosis; the situation of uncontrolled shrimp fry and chemicals of unknown origin still occurred, posing many potential risks.

Tran Van Chuong, from Ong Yen hamlet, suggested strengthening inspections to curb rising prices of aquaculture supplies.

Simultaneously, management, dissemination of information, and technology transfer have been strengthened through training courses and production support models such as shrimp-rice farming, contributing to raising awareness and capacity for farmers. By 2026, the commune aims to develop aquaculture in a sustainable direction, controlling diseases, improving the quality of breeding stock and production efficiency, striving for a production output of 5,836 tons, including 5,600 tons of whiteleg shrimp.

Chairman of Hoa Minh Commune People's Committee, Le Van Tri, directed: To effectively implement the resolution and plan for 2026, all sectors, organizations, and hamlets are requested to focus on effectively implementing the aquaculture development plan in conjunction with irrigation, promoting restructuring towards efficiency and sustainability; developing key aquaculture species suitable for each region. Strengthen training, technology transfer, and guidance on safe and timely production. Proactively prevent and control diseases; closely monitor the situation, handle issues promptly, and prevent spread. At the same time, strengthen inspection of aquaculture supplies, protect resources, and strictly handle violations. Promote awareness of protecting irrigation works; review and propose dredging of canals to ensure they serve production.
