Strategic Vision: When Heritage Becomes a Driving Force for Development
Located at an average altitude of over 1,200m above sea level, Suoi To commune has long been famous for its mild climate year-round and its centuries-old Shan Tuyet tea forests. However, this potential remained unpolished until the Suoi To Commune People's Committee organized a workshop to implement the "Project for the Conservation, Development, and Construction of Community Tourism in the period 2026–2030, with a vision to 2045." The workshop was attended by leading experts, local leaders, forestry officials, and the travel business community. A crucial direction was agreed upon: Shan Tuyet tea is not just an economic crop, but the "soul," the cultural symbol, and the most valuable resource for developing sustainable ecotourism. Preserving this rare genetic resource and the pristine forest ecosystem is the foundation for creating stable livelihoods for the Mong ethnic people in the area. The core objective of the 2026-2030 Project is to conserve, plan, and strictly protect the ancient tea tree population, preventing environmental and human encroachment. It aims to develop products, improve traditional tea processing techniques to create high-value specialty products that meet OCOP standards. Furthermore, it seeks to connect with tourism, developing tours offering experiences in tea picking and processing with local people, integrated with primeval forest trekking routes.

Trekking Suoi Khang - Conquering the "Roof of Phu Yen"
If the tea plantations represent the "static" aspect, then trekking is the dynamic and captivating part of Suoi To tourism . The most representative destination is Suoi Khang village, which boasts mysterious exploration routes leading to the majestic Ta Hau peak. At 1,583m, Ta Hau peak is not just a geographical landmark but also a dream for those eager to conquer it. The field survey by local leaders and villagers revealed a breathtaking natural landscape: ancient, moss-covered special-use forests where time seems to stand still on the gnarled trunks of giant trees, covered in lush green moss like something out of a fairy tale. Unlike typical mountain climbing routes, trekking in Suoi To offers a feeling of absolute tranquility and pristine wilderness. Visitors will breathe in the fresh air, subtly scented with forest resin and wild tea, and feel the interplay between human strength and nature's generosity. Mountain climbing isn't just for the fittest. It's for everyone with endurance, a thirst for conquest, and the will to overcome their own limitations to live fully amidst the earth and sky.
Tourists experience climbing Ta Hau peak and exploring the pristine mossy forest.
Sustainable livelihoods and their humanistic significance.
Developing eco-tourism in Suoi To is not just about attracting tourists, but also about addressing poverty and improving the local population's education. When trekking and community-based tourism become operational, each local resident will become a guide, a storyteller of tea culture, and a dedicated "forest guardian." The Suoi To commune market – a gathering place for the finest local culture and agricultural products – will become an attractive stop for tourists to shop for Shan Tuyet tea products, brocade fabrics, and enjoy highland cuisine. Income from tourism will help reduce the local people's dependence on illegal logging, thereby providing them with additional resources to invest in education and social infrastructure.
A call from the vast forest
Today, Suoi To is no longer a remote, inaccessible mountainous commune. With the dedication of the government and the unity of the people, this land is awakening from a long slumber. The first survey steps have opened up a new direction, a path called "Green Tourism - Sustainable Development".
Imagine a morning standing on the summit of Ta Hau, gazing down at the swirling sea of clouds covering the ancient tea hills, a steaming cup of Shan Tuyet tea in your hand, with its subtly astringent taste and deep, sweet aftertaste. That is the most fitting reward for your journey of discovery in Suoi To.
Suoi To is ready. Are you ready to continue writing your own story of experiences amidst this real-life fairytale setting?
