Speaking at the program, Mr. Pham Doan Nguyen, Vice Rector of the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City (UEF), said that before submitting their applications, candidates need to determine their future career goals.
Candidates can register for multiple preferences but can only commit to one. From July 18th to 30th, candidates have time to thoroughly research the majors and training programs at various universities.
"Parents shouldn't steer their children towards trendy fields of study, but rather listen to their children's interests. When children are passionate about a profession, their learning will be more effective and sustainable in the long run," explained Ms. Nguyen.
Experts and representatives from universities answered questions submitted by readers to the program on the morning of July 18th.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Deputy Director of the Admissions and Business Relations Center at the University of Finance - Marketing, emphasized that this is the time for candidates to reconsider whether early admission is suitable and aligns with their interests. If they are certain, candidates should confidently register for the early admission major as their first choice.
For candidates applying based on high school graduation exam scores, this is the time to record and list information about majors, training programs, and admission scores for 2022 and 2023 to use as a basis for making choices.
The registration portal does not limit the number of preferences; most candidates register for 4-6 preferences. The first preference is expected to have a cutoff score 0.25-0.5 points higher than the exam score; the second preference is expected to have a cutoff score equal to the exam score; and the third preference is expected to have a cutoff score lower than the exam score.
Parents need to listen to and support their children in choosing appropriate career paths.
According to Ms. Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong, Director of the Marketing and Brand Development Center at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), to make a suitable choice, parents and candidates need to pay attention to the admission plan of each school.
2024 saw a surge in applicants through early admission methods. The cutoff scores for these methods increased slightly by 0.5-1 point at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in traditional majors, and also saw a slight increase in popular majors.
