Verify information about the Central Highlands Hospital crushing patients' stones when the machine broke down

The Ministry of Health requested the Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee to direct the inspection and verification of information that the Central Highlands General Hospital performed lithotripsy services for patients when the laser lithotripsy machine was broken.

On September 18, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan sent an official dispatch to the Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requesting direction to inspect and verify information reflecting that the Central Highlands General Hospital, although its laser lithotripsy machine has been broken since the end of 2023, still provides lithotripsy technical services for patients.

In the official dispatch, the Ministry of Health requested the Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee to direct the Department of Health to organize inspection and verification of the information mentioned by the press agency; request the Central Highlands General Hospital to review the process of purchasing, managing, and using medical equipment, the technical process of lithotripsy; the conditions for medical examination and treatment activities, the supply of drugs and medical equipment, payment of medical examination and treatment costs under health insurance; the implementation of the regime of reporting on medical examination and treatment and payment of medical examination and treatment costs under health insurance; review and clarify the responsibilities of individuals and groups involved (if there are any violations), and fully coordinate with the authorities during the investigation process.

The provincial Social Insurance reviews the contract signing work, inspects the implementation of health insurance medical examination and treatment contracts, appraisal, payment, and settlement of health insurance medical examination and treatment costs from 2023 to present with the Central Highlands General Hospital; reviews and clarifies the responsibilities of related individuals and groups (if any violations) and considers recovering medical examination and treatment costs under health insurance that are not in accordance with regulations (if any).

At the same time, direct the inspection and comprehensive review of medical examination and treatment facilities in the province; the procurement, supply, management, and use of medical equipment, drugs, and technical and professional activities that may affect patient safety; the management of health insurance, and the implementation of corrective measures to ensure compliance with legal regulations.

Strictly handle violations (if any) in accordance with the provisions of law and direct solutions to ensure operating conditions of medical examination and treatment facilities to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people.

Publicize the results of the review, inspection and handling on mass media; promptly send a quick report to the Ministry of Health (Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management; Department of Health Insurance and Department of Infrastructure and Medical Equipment) before 1:00 p.m. on September 19.

According to the Ministry of Health, previously, on September 17, the media reported that the Central Highlands General Hospital, although its laser lithotripsy machine had been broken since the end of 2023, still performed lithotripsy services for patients.
