FaceID biometric authentication bank honored Creative Youth

The FaceID biometric authentication system focused on the banking system is one of 23 outstanding innovative products honored at the Northern Youth Creative Festival.

The event took place on the morning of November 30 in Hanoi. The works and innovative solutions selected to attend the festival spanned a range of fields from agriculture , industry, services to digital transformation, environmental protection, administrative reform...

Most of the youth's works are invested in elaborately, applying modern science and technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), and manufacturing robots to serve the work.

Biometric authentication is a flagship initiative

The FaceID centralized biometric authentication system for banks is a product of the author group Phan Ngoc Phung, Nguyen Quang Huy, Tran Trung Hieu at the Innovation Center of VNPT Information Technology Company.

The group’s representative, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, said the system uses new facial recognition technology, optimized for the Vietnamese market. Currently, more than 1,000 banks and financial institutions are using this system.

His team has also received five international awards, five national awards and two international standards.

Meanwhile, Vu Quang Tuan - a student of the Youth Union of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Academy, successfully created an underwater search and rescue robot. Tuan's robot can both "swim" on the surface of the water and "dive" deep into the riverbed to search and rescue.

Tuan said he has been tinkering with this robot since 2022. After three unsuccessful tests, this time Tuan has a "diving" robot like a submarine to search and rescue, serving the unit's work.

Each project and initiative saves billions of dong for society.

Mr. Ngo Van Cuong - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, Chairman of the Central Youth Union Inspection Committee, said that the 23 works, solutions and initiatives honored this time are excellent representatives of the creative achievements of youth from the Northern provinces and cities.

These works are the result of the enthusiasm, intelligence and aspiration to contribute of the young generation in studying, working, producing, building and defending the Fatherland.

"There are authors who are very young, but the initiatives and solutions they propose have brought great efficiency to social life. Each work, creative product and initiative of the authors is a true piece that contributes to creating a colorful creative picture of Vietnamese youth, contributing to building the image of a dynamic and creative Vietnam in the period of increasingly deep international integration" - Mr. Ngo Van Cuong said.

In 2014, the Central Secretariat of the Youth Union organized the National "Youth Creativity" Festival for the period from 2004 to 2017.

Since 2018, this event has been changed to the National "Creative Youth" Festival, taking place every two years, alternating with the cluster-level "Creative Youth" Festivals. Through the Festivals, the Central Youth Union has honored and awarded 660 outstanding works, solutions, initiatives and creative products of young people in many areas of social life.

The "Creative Youth" regional festival in the North - Central - South regions was organized for the first time by the Central Youth Union Secretariat right before the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union, as one of the youth activities to welcome the Congress.
